Then complete questions 1-4 on page 23-24 individually.

As a class, we read “My Superpowers” on page 16-17 again and discussed incident, response, and reflection in the narrative.

Students then completed individually on paper the chart from 18.

Homework: Last day to send me a message through the online textbook for PBIS points (instructions to log on are on every blog entry last week). This is to verify you do know how to log in to the textbook. The message your are sending me is based on your block:

Block 1 – your favorite animal

Block 2 – your favorite food

Block 4 – your favorite holiday or season

Block 5 – your favorite movie

Block 3 (AC LA):

Next as a class, we discussed the structure of a personal narrative (incident, response, and reflection) on page 15 of the textbook. Then students silently read “My Superpowers” on pages 16-17, marking the text as explained in “Setting a Purpose” on page 15.

Homework: Students are to log in to the online textbook (instructions to log on are on every blog entry last week), and send me a message through the online textbook site. This is to verify you do know how to log in to the textbook. The message your send me is based on your block:

Students finished the “Check Your Understanding” on page 13 in their composition book if not completed yesterday, and then shared answers in partners.

Next students completes a 3 question assessment check on Activity 1.2 “The Circuit” individually.

Finally, students were to continue defining our Unit 1 Vocab in their composition book. We added the 3 words sequence, transitions, and plot

Color Battle Challenge: Epic Erica will give Krisy Kreme donuts to the class that raises the most money TONIGHT. Plus, our class is at $500. I have promised to bring Krispy Kreme donuts in for the class if you reach $1000.

Block 3 (AC LA):

We spent a good bit of classes explaining and answering questions about the Color Battle. All students have now been given their Color Battle information sheet. Let’s start collecting money so Team Woodall can take first place in fundraising. I have 33 students this year on my team. My 26 students last year took 2nd place in the building raising almost $2400.00, but I think this year’s team could beat that.

After watching the video clip on the link below, students were to write a creative story that includes at least one animal and their reaction to the Solar Eclipse.  Include characters, setting, conflict and dialogue.

This story will be for extra credit, so if a student chooses not to do it, they will not receive a zero. Students should realize that I do not give extra credit to individuals especially at the end of a quarter, but rather it is given as whole class opportunities throughout the quarter.

Password is the word Block with a capital B, then your block number, and an exclamation point. So for example, password for block 1 is Block1! and block 2 is Block2! and so on.

Please, let me know in class or through a parent email if you can not get logged in, and I will check to see if I miss typed something or to see if a number had to be added to your username. The computer had to do that on some names.

SOLAR ECLIPSE DAY: Students received the permission form today that must be returned Friday, Aug 18th at the latest to be able to watch the eclipse outside at school on Monday.

Blocks 1, 2, 4, & 5 (Language Arts):

As a class, we completed the top row of the chart on pages 12-13. We also completed the all 4 boxes (the first column) naming the main changes that the narrator and his family experienced.

Students then began completing the chart by themselves.

Homework: I still have a few students in each class that have not logged into the online textbook. This is very important that they do this TONIGHT. It has been assigned for a week now. See the login instructions below.
