Complete Activator #7: If you could invite ONE person, alive or dead, to your Thanksgiving Dinner (or a regular dinner if you do not celebrate dinner), who would it be and why? Include what you would talk about at dinner as well. It must be at least 5 sentences long. 

Finish the plot diagram as a class on “Cinderella”

Listen to and follow along to “Daedalus and Icarus” on pages 62-65 in the textbook for a 2nd reading.

As a class, we began completing the chart on page 66.

On their own or with a partner, students finished the chart on page 66 and answered questions 4 and 5 on page 65

Students turned in their “Check Your Understanding” writing from page 58 with rubric attach.

Read the version of “Cinderella” given in class aloud.

Together as a class, we began completing a plot diagram on the story.

Block 3 AC LA

Go over in small groups and then discuss as a class, the plot diagram on the version of “Cinderella” passed out in class yesterday.

Students read “Daedalus and Icarus” on pages 62-65 in the textbook, and marked the text while reading as described in the “Setting a Purpose” section on page 62.

Block 1, 2, 4, & 5

Students were given a rubric for their “Check Your Understanding” writing from page 58. We went over the rubric in great detail.

Students then revised the draft they wrote last Wednesday on the CYU Writing Prompt based on the rubric requirements.

Students were then to write a final, neat, and readable copy to turn in tomorrow for grading OR they can type and print a final copy at home tonight

Homework – Finish your neat and readable final copy of the CYU writing. It is due tomorrow with the rubric sheet attached.

Block 3 AC LA

As a class, we completed a plot diagram on the story, “The 3 Little Pigs.”

Students were given a copy of “Cinderella” to complete their own plot diagram. They must use this version so that we are all talking about the same story since there are so many version out there.

Homework – Finish your plot diagram if you did not do so in class today.

We reviewed characterization, conflict, and inference.

We also reviewed what types of questions will be on the quiz tomorrow.

Students read the story, “Thank You M’am” on pages 52-55 in the textbook, again to help review for the quiz tomorrow.

Homework – Be ready for the quiz on conflict, point of view, characterization, and inference on the story, “Thank You, M’am” tomorrow.

Block 3 AC LA

Activator #9: Write 2-3 sentences for each of the 3 pictures I placed on the board. You should write about an inference you can make about each one.

Review what types of questions will be on the quiz tomorrow.

Students completed a 2nd read of the story “Thank You M’am” on pages 52-55 in the textbook.

Then complete the 5 questions on page 56

Homework – If you did not finish the worksheet questions on the story from Friday, you need to do so by Wednesday.

Activator #8: Try to put yourself “in the shoes” of someone like Roger—someone who does something bad but is not really a bad person.  Is there ever a time it is okay to steal from a person or place?  Explain Why or why not?  Give details and supporting evidence to justify your response.  Minimum of 7 complete and varied sentences.

Students completed a 2nd read of the story “Thank You M’am” on pages 52-55 in the textbook.

Then complete the 5 questions on page 56

Homework – If you did not finish the worksheet questions on the story from Friday, you need to do so by Wednesday.
