Students in Ms. Woodall’s Homeroom: Please bring in a can or plastic bottle (12 or 16 oz) drink for you to have during our holiday party TOMORROW. No Glass Bottles!

Blocks 1, 3, & 5 ONLY were seen today due to Early Release Schedule:

  • If a student did not turn in their Snowman Picture from yesterday, they were to do so today.
  • Students then completed a Figurative Language color by numbers worksheet

Homework for Blocks 1, 3, & 5 – Have a great Holiday Break!

Blocks 2 & 4 (this is what they did yesterday)

  • Students used the similes and metaphors from the worksheet yesterday and wrote them in the shape of a snowman.
  • Students were then asked to color and decorate the snowman.

Homework for Blocks 2 & 4 – Finish your snowman if you did not finish it in class yesterday. Also, please bring colored pencils to class tomorrow.

ALL Blocks:

  • Students used the similes and metaphors from the worksheet yesterday and wrote them in the shape of a snowman.
  • Students were then asked to color and decorate the snowman.

Homework for ALL BLOCKS – Finish your snowman if you did not finish it in class today. Also, please bring colored pencils to class for the rest of the week.

  • Students took a few notes to help review similes and metaphors.
  • Then students were to begin completing the worksheet titled “Holiday Figurative Language Snowman.” Be sure to complete it based on the directions on the worksheet.

Homework for ALL BLOCKS – Finish the worksheet if not completed in class. Also, please bring colored pencils to class for the rest of the week.

  • Today was a “Make Up Day” for students to complete any missing assignments for me.
  • If all of my work was complete, then students were to use the time to catch up on work in other classes or study for the many tests that they have this week in the other academic classes

ALL Blocks:

  • After checking that students completed the study guide from class on Wednesday, we discussed the answers to each question and I put the answers on board.
  • I also went over how many test questions and the type of test questions that they will see on the test tomorrow.

Homework for ALL BLOCKS – Test over Expository Writing will be TOMORROW.

ALL Blocks:

  • Students completed DGP Quiz over Weeks 7 and 8
  • While taking the quiz, I waked around and checked that all students had the warm-ups for Weeks 7 and 8 written in their composition book for a completion grade
  • I went over what the test on Friday will be like and the things it will cover. A review sheet for it will be completed in class tomorrow.

Homework for ALL BLOCKS – Test over Expository Writing will be Friday, Dec 14th.

ALL Blocks:

  • Students completed a review sheet for the DGP Quiz tomorrow
  • As a class, we went over the answers to the review sheet so students could use it to study for the quiz
  • Students were given back graded papers and we placed them in our class portfolio folders.

ALL Blocks:

  • Students completed DGP Week 8, Day 5 in their composition book
  • As a class, we went over and checked last night’s homework
  • Students began the “Practice Compare-and-Contrast Paper” packet

ALL Blocks:

  • Students completed DGP Week 8, Day 4 in their composition book
  • Students go back in the pairs they were in yesterday and then pairs that had the same Dinner Dilemma story were put together to make a group of 4.
  • In their groups, students were to compare the answers to the questions from yesterday and then decide if their story was an example of a problem-solution or cause-effect, or a little of both.
  • As a class, each group shared which type their story was and why.
  • Students were then able to start on the homework sheets (due to our Code Red Drill though, blocks 1 and 2 did not get as much time to start on the homework sheets)
