Milestones Writing Practice

The students did an incredible job peer conferencing after our final Milestones writing practice! We had a discussion about using our time wisely and following the directions. These writing papers were brought home today.

Milestones Practice Math Test

Today, students received their scored practice math test from Friday. The students were given 1 hour to complete the test. It was good practice for recording answers onto answer documents. Please review the feedback and practice at home if needed.

More review activities from class will be sent home later this week.

Monday, March 26

This week, we are:

Math: comparing fractions with shapes and/or number lines. This will be assessed on Thursday. This is a review of the fractions standard taught in the 3rd quarter. On Friday, we will review all math standards for Milestones.

Writing: reviewing third grade skills and informational write on demand.

Reading: reviewing informational text strategies.

Language Arts: using complex sentences.

Important Information:

Performing Arts Day: Tomorrow is Performing Arts Day! We will pick up sack lunches at 10 am and eat lunch in the classroom around 12 pm. Dismissal will be at the same time.

Testing Snacks: Be on the lookout for information about donating testing snacks and mints from Mrs. Patel!

Spirit Night: Tomorrow night at Zaxby’s!

Milestones Testing: Testing will begin the Tuesday after Spring Break. Stay tuned for more information from administration. Thank you for making sure students are here every day and on time!

Milestones Study Guide: Today, students will receive a study guide that includes Reading, Math, and Language Arts standards that may be on the Milestones. Students can also review with their Math and Reading journals. They are doing well in our practice activities in class and I am so proud!

Wednesday, March 21

Report Cards: Report cards for the 3rd quarter went home today. Please sign and return the envelopes by Friday. Let me know if you have any questions.

Compliment Party: Tomorrow, students earned a movie party during recess. Students can bring something cozy to snuggle with during the movie. This item must fit inside their backpacks.

Monday, March 19

This week, we are:

Math: classifying quadrilaterals based on attributes. This will be assessed on Thursday. Students can review with their journal notes and the math workbooks. Continue to work on memorizing multiplication facts!

Writing: writing with a point of view with milestones prompts.

Reading: identifying point of view in narrative texts with milestones review questions.

Language Arts: using simple and compound sentences.

Science and Social Studies: We will resume these subjects after testing.

Important Information:

Milestones Review: Today, we reviewed how to locate the 3rd Grade Milestones Study Guide on the Teasley website. Feel free to review this with your students for extra practice. Some of those pages will be used in class as well.

Talent Show: This Friday at 6:30 pm at Cumberland Community Church. Tickets orders are due tomorrow!

Distractions in Class: Please be sure that your student is not bringing items to school that could be distracting (toys, games, coloring books, etc). We are working hard to finish covering our standards and completing test preparation, so it is important that we have no distractions. Thank you for your support in this matter. 

Field Day T-Shirts: These order forms are due on March 22. No late orders will be accepted.

Rise and Shine: In order to maximize our fundraising efforts for Jump Rope for Heart we are offering students the opportunity to come in during Rise and Shine to participate in Jump Rope for Heart activities with a $1 donation.  This will be replacing our regularly scheduled activities until after Spring Break.  The schedule is as follows:

Milestones Writing Practice

Milestones Writing Practice: Today, students will receive a copy of their first write on-demand practice for Milestones writing. There is an attached rubric with scores highlighted for each writing skill. Students can re-write this practice on a separate piece of paper if they want further practice. We will continue to review third grade standards and practice with sample Milestones tests next week.

The Milestones review for reading and math is due on Monday!

Field Day T-Shirts: These order forms are due on March 22. No late orders will be accepted.

Thursday, March 15

Math: Students are demonstrating amazing understanding so far this week! This standard will be assessed tomorrow. Students must show their work and an equation with a letter representing the unknown.

Tuesday, March 13

This week, we are:

Math: solving two step word problems with all 4 operations by using an equation with a letter standing for the unknown. This will be assessed next week. Students can use practice pages in the 3rd grade math workbooks for extra practice.

Writing: reviewing the how to answer a write on demand using writing strategies learned in the class: opinion writing and point of view.

Reading: reviewing 3rd quarter standards (point of view, cause and effect, context clues, describing characters).

Language Arts: using conjunctions in sentences.

Science: explaining how to conserve natural resources to stop pollution in Georgia.

Social Studies: participating in activities on Colonial America Day!

Important Information:

Class Wish List: #2 non mechanical pencils (we are out!), pencil erasers, and tissues

Colonial America Day: Tomorrow is the big day! Thank you to everyone who volunteered to send in donations. Students may dress up in colonial attire or wear standard attire. If your student wants to participate in the bartering activity, please send in the signed permission form. Students can bring in a jigsaw puzzle if they want to participate in the puzzle center.

Early Release: Tomorrow, March 14.

Milestones Review: The Milestones review packet for reading and math is due on Monday, March 19.

Field Day T-Shirts: Tomorrow, students will receive a form and payment envelope if they want to order field day t-shirts. They will be the same color yellow as our class t-shirts.

 

 

Milestones Review

Today, students received a Milestones review packet with a sample math and a sample reading test. Students should practice with these sample tests at home. We will be reviewing and practicing at school as well. These must be completed by Monday,  March 19.
