Fire Safety Village Field Trip

Today, students received a permission form for our upcoming field trip to the Fire Safety Village! Please return as soon as possible. There is not cost for this field trip.

Monday, February 25

Welcome back! We had a fantastic day back  to school! I love seeing the independence and growth in the students!

This week, we are:

Math: solve word problems involving pennies, dimes, nickels, and quarters. We will work on this standard along with other word problems the next few weeks.

Writing: writing an opinion piece about a strong leader.

Reading: Identifying character points of view in fiction texts. We will explore this standard with Fairy Tales and Dr. Seuss Reader’s Theater!

Language Arts: spelling words with suffix endings: helped, helping, printed, printing, sliced, slicing, joked, joking, dropped, dropping, clapped, clapping.

Social Studies: the roles of leadership in the levels of government: mayor, governor, and president.

Important Information

Breakfast at School: All car riders who want to eat breakfast must arrive at school at 7:35 am in order to allow time to eat in the cafeteria.

Field Trip to Cobb Safety Village: In a few weeks, our class will visit the Cobb Safety Village! Be on the lookout for the permission form soon!

Read Across America Day: For The Read Across America Day Parade on Friday, March 1st, our class is celebrating the story, 101 Dalmatians!  Students may wear a white shirt and black/dark pants to look like a Dalmatian! We will attach black dots to the shirts on Friday morning. If students are eager to create their own Dalmatian costume at home, they are welcome to! I will take and post many pictures during the parade!

 

 

Friday, February 22

Monday, February 11

This week, we are:

Math: using addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one step and two step word problems using drawing and an equation for the unknown number. We will work on word problems for the next few weeks.

Writing: writing rough drafts, editing, and publishing opinion writing.

Reading: comparing and contrasting two or more version of the same story from different authors or different cultures. Reading levels will still be assessed this week for mid-quarter check-ins.

Language Arts: spelling irregular plural nouns- sheep, deer, teeth, women, dozen, traffic, moose, geese, and oxen.

IB Central Idea: Strong leaders affect change. We will are describing the leadership of Juliette Gordon Low and Jimmy Carter this week.

Important Information:

Performing Arts Field Trip: On Thursday, February 14, 2nd grade will take a field trip to watch a ballet. Students can dress nicely or wear standard attire. We will eat lunch from the cafeteria and exchange valentine’s when we return that afternoon

Class Wish List: Sheet protectors, tissues, Clorox/antibacterial wipes

Dress Down for $1: This Friday, February 15!

Progress Reports: Students currently demonstrating limited progress (1) in any report card standard for the 3rd quarter will receive a Progress Report tomorrow. Please sign and return as soon as possible.

Winter Break: No school next week due to Winter Break!

Friday, February 8

Attire for Field Trip: Students may dress up nicely for the field trip to the Atlanta Ballet if they wish. 

Parents Night Out : Parents, you deserve a Friday night out! Leave the childcare to the Teasley Staff where your kids will enjoy a pizza dinner (two slices, drink, & dessert) and a fun-filled night of games, arts & crafts, a glow party, and more! The event will take place on Friday, March 1st from 6:00PM – 9:30 PM. The cost is $25 per student and is for Teasley K-5 students only. Space is limited, so please register by February 15th by returning the registration form that was sent home with your student. No late registrations will be accepted. Additional pizza, snacks, drinks, and glow items will be available for purchase. All items will be sold for $1.00 – $2.00 each. Thanks for your support!

This week, we are:

Math: using addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one step and two step word problems using drawing and an equation for the unknown number. We will work on word problems for the next few weeks. Students are onto a great start with using the word problem checklist!

Writing: writing rough drafts, editing, and publishing opinion writing.

Reading: comparing and contrasting two or more version of the same story from different authors or different cultures. Reading levels will be assessed this week for upcoming progress reports.

Language Arts: spelling regular plural nouns with -s and -es endings (spices, acorns, apples, dishes, classes, boxes, watches, ponies, cities, children). We will also explore adverbs this week in comparison to adjectives.

IB Central Idea: Strong leaders affect change. We will are describing the leadership of Juliette Gordon Low more this week.

Important Information:

Performing Arts Field Trip: On Thursday, February 14, 2nd grade will take a field trip to watch a ballet. This field trip does not require additional payments or chaperones. Please return the orange permission form as soon as possible.

Valentine’s Exchange: If your student wants to participate in the activity, please send in a Valentine for all students in the class. We will exchange after the field trip on Valentine’s Day.
