Coming Up for the Week of November 26th

We have had a great week!  The mystery in Book Scavenger keeps us guessing.  We are closer to the end and have a few theories about who did it!  We will be learning all about the inventors of the early 20th century in Socials Studies when we return from the break.  In Science, we will continue learning about the Earth’s layers and tectonic plates.  There will be a QUIZ on Earth’s Layers on Wednesday, November 28th.  Please study the foldable in your Science journal.  All questions on the quiz will come from the foldable.

GREAT NEWS!!! Our Donor’s Choose Project has been fully funded!  Thank you to all who donated!  We have received our first shipment- headphones, clipboards, and LOTS of books.  We will receive more books and 8 stools very soon.  Thank you again for supporting our classroom!

READER’S WORKSHOP:  We will be continuing to read articles in our new Story Works magazine.  We will also be reading and discussing our oral read, Book Scavenger.  Finally, we will continue working on our using evidence from the text to answer questions about our reading.

SCIENCE:  In Science, we will continue to learn about Constructive and Destructive Forces on the Earth.  We will learn about Plate Tectonics.  There will be a QUIZ on Earth’s Layers on Wednesday, November 28th.  Please study the foldable in your Science journal.  All questions on the quiz will come from the foldable.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  We continue learning about the inventors of the early 20th century.

Coming Up for the Week of November 5th

What an exciting week we have had!  We loved dressing up as our favorite book characters on Wednesday!  We have learned about the differences between weathering, erosion, and deposition in Science.  Cowboys and Cattle Trails has been our focus for Social Studies, and making inferences is what we are learning in Reading.  We have also enjoyed our Mystery genre oral read, Book Scavenger.

Square 1 Art stickers were sent home last week. The stickers are free! You may also order your child’s artwork on a number of products. These make great gifts for grandparents. Any products ordered will arrive at our school at the end of November. Proceeds benefit the art room and enable us to buy lots of fun supplies. Online ordering is quick and easy.
