Everything Is Awesome… especially when you are a PMES 5th grader.

Join your friends and watch a PRIVATE SCREENING of LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part on March 2nd @ 9:30 am at NCG theaters in Acworth.  Tickets are $6 each, pay at the door.  There will be $3 concessions on sale which will include a popcorn, drink and fruit snacks.

This is not a drop off event, all children need to be chaperoned, and 5th grader’s families are also invited.

Put your thinking cap on 5th graders for Trivia Night!!!!

March 10th from 3-5@ the Brookstone HOA Club House you will get to a chance to prove just how smart you are.  $5 fee to play.  All proceeds go towards the 5th grade celebration in May.

Coming Up for the Week of January 28th

We have had a great week!  We continued our new novel for our oral read this week- Peak by Roland Smith. We also continued with our PEAK Reading Challenge where each student is attempting to read 1,000 pages so that our class can climb the mountain.  We have reached the 3rd checkpoint!   In Science, we learned about human intervention and technology.

READER’S WORKSHOP:  We will be continuing to read articles in our new Story Works magazine.  We will also be continuing our oral read, PEAK.  We will continue working on our using evidence from the text to answer questions about our reading.  Finally, we will work on determining the author’s purpose of a text.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  We begin learning about the causes of World War I and America’s involvement.

SCIENCE:  We will take an open note quiz on Constructive and Destructive Forces.  We will also begin to learn about Living Organisms.

Coming Up for the Week of January 22nd

We have had a great week!  We started a new novel for our oral read this week- Peak by Roland Smith. We began our PEAK Reading Challenge where each student is attempting to read 1,000 pages so that our class can climb the mountain.  We have learned all about the Spanish American War and the Panama Canal in Social Studies.  In Science, we learned about volcanoes and earthquakes.  We even learned how to triangulate earthquakes to find the epicenter!
