Coming Up for the Week of December 3rd

We have had a great week!  The mystery in Book Scavenger keeps us guessing and we are so ready to know who did it!  We will finish our book this week!  We have learned all about the Wright brothers, George Washington Carver, Thomas Edison, and Alexander Graham Bell in Social Studies.  We are learning about the impact these inventors had on American life.  In Science, we learned about Earth’s layers and tectonic plates.

READER’S WORKSHOP:  We will be continuing to read articles in our new Story Works magazine.  We will also be completing our oral read, Book Scavenger.  We will continue working on our using evidence from the text to answer questions about our reading.   Finally, we will take the Reading Inventory this week to get our current Lexile levels.
*Students have a Reading Response Entry due on Friday, December 7th.
*Reading Extra Credit is due on Thursday, December 6th.

SCIENCE:  In Science, we will continue to learn about Constructive and Destructive Forces on the Earth.  We will learn about Plate Tectonics and types of boundaries.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  We begin learning about William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt and the impact they had on America.  We will begin to discuss the Spanish American War and the Panama Canal.

Coming Up for the Week of November 26th

We have had a great week!  The mystery in Book Scavenger keeps us guessing.  We are closer to the end and have a few theories about who did it!  We will be learning all about the inventors of the early 20th century in Socials Studies when we return from the break.  In Science, we will continue learning about the Earth’s layers and tectonic plates.  There will be a QUIZ on Earth’s Layers on Wednesday, November 28th.  Please study the foldable in your Science journal.  All questions on the quiz will come from the foldable.

GREAT NEWS!!! Our Donor’s Choose Project has been fully funded!  Thank you to all who donated!  We have received our first shipment- headphones, clipboards, and LOTS of books.  We will receive more books and 8 stools very soon.  Thank you again for supporting our classroom!
