Third grade has been learning a lot these last few weeks. Students have been using their critical thinking skills by using code.org. Students have also learned more about productive resources and non-fiction text features. After students were taught about non fiction text features, they were asked to create their own graphic organizer on nonfiction text features.

Over the next few weeks I am working with students in grades k-2 on internet safety. We are watching a video from netsmartzkids.org. This a great website to look at together. It contains videos and games that teach students how to be safe on the internet.
Over the last two weeks kindergartners and first graders learned about fire safety. The apps we used are Sparky and the Case of the Missing Smoke Alarms and Sparky’s Birthday Surprise. These are free apps that you can download on your own devices. The apps contain ebooks and games to promote fire safety. The students loved them!

On Friday, students attended steamypalooza which paired career day with steam activities. When students came into the Learning Commons they played with the Osmos and used Quiver.
