East Side Be Kind!!!

Dear Second Grade Parents,
Beginning Monday, November 26, your child will be engaging in the engineering design process and learning about how an assembly line functions. All second grader’s will be working together to design special message tags that spread kind words and thoughts. In addition, students will be working together to assemble treat bags that include special messages and small pieces of candy. If your family chooses to participate, your child will have the opportunity to bring an assembled bag home to share with someone in the community. As safety is our number one priority, we ask that you participate with your child as they share an act of kindness. As a family, you can choose to share kindness with a neighbor, a cashier that is helping you, or with an attendant at the gas station. Imagine brightening someone’s day with a special treat!
Beginning Wednesday, November 7, we will have a large tub outside the Makerspace that is labeled, “2nd Grade,” and we are asking for individually wrapped non-peanut candy donations for our message bags. This donation is voluntary, but we are hoping that many of our second grade families will choose to join us in spreading kindness in our community!

The Jingle Jog Needs You!

Lace up those shoes, the 13th annual Jingle Jog is Saturday, Dec. 1! Coordinated by the PE Department, this one mile fun run draws hundreds of runners and walkers of all ages. Trophies are awarded to the top finishers from each grade and families enjoy food, drinks, inflatables and music. It’s a morning not to be missed! Please help make this event possible by volunteering your time or donating goods. Be a part of one of East Side’s most beloved annual events and help raise funds for the PE Department. For questions, please email Callie Van Fleit at [email protected]

Make a Difference This Thanksgiving

Each year, the PTA’s Community Outreach committee sponsors a food drive to provide Thanksgiving dinners to more than 100 needy families at our sister school, Fair Oaks Elementary. Your classroom representatives will be asking you to donate specific food items to help families create traditional Thanksgiving meals. Students have until Wed., Nov. 14 to bring the items to their teachers. This is a great opportunity to embrace the spirit of the season by teaching children about gratitude and giving back. If you have any questions, email [email protected]

Details to come. For questions, please email [email protected]  Our class is scheduled to attend the book fair on Thursday, November 15th from 8:15-8:35 am.
