P.T.A. International Night is Thursday, Feb. 8th from 6:30 – 8:00pm in the Bells Ferry Cafeteria.
This is a Bells Ferry classic event! Everyone looks forward to this all year long. Families set up heritage boards, provide food samples from their native country, and there are dancers demonstrating their country’s finest!
In addition, student artwork will be on display and for sale to raise money for the art program. Pre-sales will begin next week and artwork will be for sale during the International Art Night. There will be no post-show sales after the Art Night.
Be sure you make it! 🙂
With the high number of snow days thus far this year, we have some catching up to do! Please, please, please practice sight words and read with your child NIGHTLY! This is the BEST resource for ensuring growth. Working at school is not enough to ensure timely consistency in learning new words. Your student should have their sight word rings. Please make sure these are placed back into their book bag so they can bring them back to school every day. We practice every morning and several students do not have theirs. They are very time consuming (and costly) to make, so please be careful not to lose them. If your child has lost theirs, please try to find it in your home, but if you cannot locate it, send me an email and I’ll make a new one.
The words we are working on this week are:
no in let come said house
Thank you for working with your child to support their learning!
Please practice the following words this week. We will be using these words in sentences, locating them in passages and working on memorization.
what us call my jump see
This is the last week to send in canned goods to help those in need. Please send in what you can.
Publix math night is coming up right after Thanksgiving on Tuesday, November 28, 6-8pm. This is a fun night at our partner in education – Publix – the location across the street from our school on Barrett Parkway. Students get the opportunity to use their math skills in a real world setting. Come out and enjoy some family time working with your child to show what they know!
With cold and flu season upon us, please keep the following guidelines in mind to help decrease the spread of infection and maintain a healthy learning environment for our students.
+ Returning to school once fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medicine.
+ Returning to school 24 hours AFTER the last vomiting episode.
+ Returning to school 24 hours AFTER last diarrhea episode.
Your child’s education and well-being is our number one priority. If you have any questions, please contact Nurse Shannon at 678-594-8950 x 026.
The Bells Ferry Food Drive is underway! We are collecting canned goods through next week. If you could send a contribution in with your child, many families will be grateful during this holiday season. Collection boxes will be outside our classroom. Mr. Hooker is challenging each class to collect the most to win a pizza party! Thank you parents for supporting our community!
I hope to see you all at our Thanksgiving lunch next week. The school rotates days for each grade level to invite their families to join them for lunch. Our class’s day will be on Tuesday, November 14, 11:15-11:45. Try to arrive early if possible as there will be lots of parents and parking may be an issue. You can also park at the Publix across the street from the school and walk over if you need to. We will meet you in the lobby on our way to lunch. We hope you can join us!
These are the sight words to focus on for the upcoming week:
make, will, am, me, pretty
The Foundation is having a dress-up day on Tuesday, October 31. For $1, your child may dress up as their favorite book character. Keep in mind that tennis shoes are necessary since it is a P.E. Day. Happy Dress Up and Fun Day!
