Happy Book Fair Week!

Thank you again to all our Veterans.  It was honor to celebrate their service at the Veteran’s Day Parade.  It was also a special day for me to celebrate my dad’s service as well!

The Book Fair is from Nov. 13-Nov. 17.  **Please note that Family Night is on Tuesday, Nov. 14th from 6-8pm (not on Monday from previous post)  Our class will be visiting the book fair on Wednesday from 8:35-8:55.  A flyer was sent home in your child’s folder on Friday.

Thank you for signing up for all the Thanksgiving Basket donations!!  All donations are due by Wednesday, Nov. 15th.  The families at Fair Oaks appreciate your kindness!!!

A Social Studies Study Guide will be sent home with your child’s Weekly Newsletter on Monday.  Please review the Early Georgians for our test on Friday.

Veteran’s Day and Book Fair Reminders

Please wear RED, WHITE, and BLUE to support our Veterans’s tomorrow during the parade.

The Book Fair is Nov. 13-17.  Family night is on Monday, Nov. 13.  Our class will be going on Nov. 15th from 8:35-8:55.  A school wide schedule for all classes is on the Media Center link on the East Side Webpage.

Lunch Change and Class Info

We will have lunch in the room tomorrow since the Science Fair is in the cafeteria..  We will eat at 11:00.

The Veteran’s Day parade is Friday, Dec. 10th 8:05-8:25.  Please make sure your child wears warm clothing and a jacket.  Thank you to all our veterans for protecting our country!!

We are currently experiences issues with the new Mackinvia log-in username and password.  We have contacted the county and are hoping that this issue will be resolved soon.  Thank you for your patience.

If you need additional practice with 2 digit subtraction, a copy of the 2 digit subtraction strategies was sent home with your child’s newsletter on Monday.

We are currently in need of the following STEM supplies:  We will need these items sent in by Nov. 27th.

  • Cardboard (Cereal boxes or medium size cardboard pieces)
  • Corks (used)
  • Acorns (If you have any acorns in your neighborhood)
  • Small plastic figurines (Example:  Polly Pockets)
  • Used Matchbox cars

Reminders

Friday, Nov. 3 lunch schedule has changed.  Our lunch is from 12:05-12:35.

East Side Elementary is proud to support the Kiwanis Circle K Club of Kennesaw State University and Georgia Highlands Paulding Campus to promote the America Reads program this year.  America Reads Initiative is a federal program that allows KSU and GHC work study students to tutor elementary and middle school students in Paulding and surrounding counties who are in need.  Please consider donating a gently used or new book, but please don’t put your child’s name in it.  A note of encouragement about the joys of reading that is slipped between the pages of a book is most welcome.  The book drive will run until November 30th.  Boxes are placed by the cafeteria and gym doors.

 

Happy Monday!!

Our Fall/Halloween Class Party is tomorrow from 8:00-9:00am.  Students may wear their class t-shirts or a fall t-shirt.  All parents are welcome to join us.  Thank you to our Room Moms, Parent volunteers, and those who sent in donations!!  The kids are so excited!!

We are very excited about our upcoming annual Veteran’s Day breakfast and celebration.  This year, Veteran’s Day will be observed on Friday, November 10th.   The breakfast and program will be from 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.  If you have family members who have served in the military or you have served, please join us for this wonderful program so that we can celebrate you. Please complete the RSVP form below and return back to your child’s teacher no later than Tuesday, October 31st.

We will have our Creek and Cherokee test on Wednesday.  A study guide was sent home on the back of your child’s weekly newsletter.  Students also brought home the Cherokee and Creek Flipbook that we worked on in class.  Please have your child review the Study Guide.

 

 

Reminders

Class T-shirts went home today!!  Thank you for your patience!

Please return Yellow Registration Forms that were sent home during conferences last week.  The front office needs those signed and returned by Friday, Oct. 27th.

The kids enjoyed our Creek In-House Field Trip today!  Thank you to all our parent volunteers for your assistance!

It definitely felt like FALL this morning.  Please make sure your child wears warm clothes and a coat daily.  It would be helpful if their names are written on the inside of their coats.  

Red Ribbon Week

I hope you all had  fun at the Fall Festival.  I cannot wait to here who won the Auction for the Party in the Park!!

**Class T-shirts-  There was a delay in our class t-shirt orders.  They will not be available for our Creek In-House Field Trip on Wednesday.  We apologize for the delay, but thank you for your patience.

Red Ribbon Week (Oct. 23-27)

Monday:  School Spirit- wear your favorite school shirt or colors.

Tuesday:  Peace out to bullies- wear peace signs or tye-dye clothes.

Wednesday: Team up against bullying- wear your favorite team shirt.

Thursday: Use your head and make good choices. – crazy hair or wear a crazy hat.

Friday:  Promote good character – dress up as your favorite superhero.

 

Reminders

The pumpkin research projects turned out great! We used a SEESAW app on the Ipads to record the pumpkin presentations.  I will be sending home more details so you can watch your child’s presentation at home.  All pumpkins must be picked up by Friday afternoon at 12:30.  

If you would like to purchase a STEM t-shirt, order forms are due by Friday, Oct. 27th.

Red Ribbon Week is next week Oct.23-Oct. 27.  A red sheet will be sent home in your child’s binder on Thursday with more details.

Class News and Conference Week

Conference Week – I am looking forward to meeting with all of you to discuss your child’s progress.  A pink reminder slip was sent home in your child’s binder on Thursday.  Please sign and return the pink slip by Monday, Oct. 16th to confirm your conference day and time.  Early Dismissal is at 12:25 and our lunch is from 11:14-11:44.  If you need to make a transportation change, please send in a written note.  

Pumpkin Research Project is due on Monday, Oct. 16th.  I cannot wait to learn new information from the students creative pumpkin display.  Please make sure that your child returns the question and answer sheet with their pumpkin so they can share their research with the class. 

Green Weekly Progress Reports will not be sent home this week.  We will discuss your child’s progress during the conference.

East Side Auction- Picnic in the Park with Ms. Brown!!!    I am looking forward to a great time at East Cobb Park with 3 of my students.  If your child would like to join me with 2 other classmates,  please click on the link below and bid.  Also, there are many other fantastic items to bid on.  Remember all of the money raised will be used by the East Side Foundation to provide beneficial resources, such as iPads,  great new additions to the Media Center, classroom libraries, to every student at East Side.  

East Side Teacher Auction

Brumby Elementary STEM Donations – We are so fortunate here at East Side to have such support for our STEM projects. We want the students at Brumby Elementary to experience STEM without limitations. Each grade level has been designated a list of items that we are hoping to collect and donate to Brumby. If you’d like to donate some items, please send them in by October 20th.

Early Release Tomorrow

Tomorrow is an early release day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:25.  Fit Club will not meet.  If your child will be going home a different way, please make sure to send a note.
