It is hard to believe that we have been in school for 20 days and that September will be here at the end of next week. I am hoping that the weather will cool down just a tiny bit so that it is not so hot when we go out for recess. The children enjoyed their eclipse time on Monday and learned a lot of new science in the process. Just a reminder that Wednesday is an early release day. Car riders and walkers will be released at 12:15. After school students will be released to ASP at the same time. We have lunch at 9:30 in the morning so if your child goes to ASP you may want to send an extra snack for them since it will be a long time between lunch and dinner.
To help you help your child learn their alphabet letters and sounds I have attached a PowerPoint Presentation at the top of the blog that has the letter, that we use to learn the sound and the movement. I also have a PowerPoint that has the letter, the sound and the movement on it. You will need to send me a flash drive to load it onto for you because it is too big for the blog.
We had another busy week in room 105. We learned about our flag and the Pledge of Allegiance, 2 D and 3D shapes, and how to write a simple sentence. We learned about the eclipse in art and Stem lab and will do lots of projects on Monday that relate to the eclipse. We will not be able to go outside during the eclipse as per Cobb County School Districts guidelines but we will have lots of fun in our class learning more about the eclipse.
80’s day at Pitner was a success. Mrs. Palmer and Mrs. Perry looked wonderful in their 80’s outfits.
Thank you to all of the parents who attended our Open House. I enjoyed sharing the ins and outs of our Kindergarten with you. For those of you who were unable to attend the packet of information will be sent home today. Please sign and return the ice cream permission slip, the salad slip, and the performing arts form. You will need to sign the performing arts form even if you do not make a donation.
We have started learning how to draw a great picture to go with our writing. We read Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom and talked about the importance of letters and our names. We have had a great second week of school and look forward to participating in lots of fun activities in our classroom next week.
Welcome to my classroom blog. I will include a small paragraph and pictures of what we are learning here in our classroom almost every week for you to read and enjoy.
We have had a fabulous first week here in our classroom. The children are settling in and learning how to be good Kindergarten students. The name of the game in our room is independence, independence, independence. By starting the children out learning how to remove their folders and hang up their own book bags, as well as getting their book bag and packing up we are setting the tone for the rest of the year. We are looking forward to an awesome year here in room 105.
Open House will be held on Thursday August 10, 2017 so please mark your calendar.
