FROM THE TEACHER
We had a very quiet week here at Pitner. We were all rested and ready to go after our break. It is hard to believe that we have been in school for 42 days already and that the first nine week grading period will come to an end next week. You will receive your child’s first report card at your conference. I will discuss how the report card works and what areas your child needs to work on.
Thank you for coming to our parade to watch our little animals march through the school. This is our Kinder students moment to shine and we love to show how much we have learned. Special thanks to all of our industrious parents who created the cutest costumes ever for our Zoophonics parade.
Conferences are held during the week of Oct 15 – 19. Please return your conference slip so that we hold a spot for you or can make a change. If the time that I scheduled for you will not work please give me some alternative times or days. School is released 2 hours earlier each day during conference week.
Our class goes to the Media Center for a lesson and to check out books most Wednesdays. Please make sure that your student returns their book prior to the next library day.
We continued to work on our phonics skills this week. Our focus letters this week were G & T. We practiced writing the letter and how they looks and sound at the beginning of words. During Readers Workshop we have been working on strategies to help us read words. Please continue to work on sight words at home. Students will need to know 50 sight words by the end of the second nine week period.
MATH: We have spent this week reviewing shapes. We enjoyed our special shape snack this afternoon. Thank you to all of our parents who donated goodies in the different shapes that we have studied. You will find a picture of the worksheet that we completed using our shape food. Next week we will be starting on our teen numbers.
