Fall may be finally here in Georgia and we hope that the cooler weather will stay awhile. We are enjoying watching the changes that are happening outside our window.
FIELD TRIP: Just a reminder that the field trip to Petite Farms on Oct 10th has been changed to Nov 1. I will send another reminder when it gets closer to the time.
CLASS T-SHIRTS: We hung on to the class shirts so that every child would have one for our big assembly today. Our class belongs to the red house and will compete with the other color houses to have the best behavior this school year. We ask that your child wear their shirt every Friday throughout the school year and on field trips
CAPE DAY: We are going to be raising money for Children’s Heath Care of Atlanta this year by participating in Cape Day on Friday, October 19th. We encourage your child to bring a $1.00 donation and wear a cape to show their kindness superpowers.
50Th Day: Just a reminder that Wednesday next week is the 50th day of school and if your child wishes to they may dress in the style of the 1950s.
CONFERENCES: Conferences are being held during the week of Oct 15 – 19. Students will be released at 12:30 every day. I am looking forward to meeting with those who have confirmed that they will attend.
LANGUAGE ARTS: We continued to work on our phonics skills this week. We practiced the letters that we have already learned and did a lot of report card assessments. During both readers and writers workshop we have been learning about non-fiction. We will continue with this unit for the next few weeks. Please continue to work on sight words at home. Students will need to know 25 sight words by the end of the second nine week period.
MATH: We have being learning the numbers 11 to 20 this week. Teen numbers are hard for most children to understand. You can help your child by having them write the teen numbers and draw objects to match the number. Please continue to work with your student to help them practice counting to 100.
Have a great weekend.
