FROM THE TEACHER: Thank you to all of the parents who attended their conferences. It was nice to connect with you and to learn a bit more about your child.
RED RIBBON WEEK: We will celebrate Red Ribbon Week on October 22nd – 26th. The theme this year is “Good Character, Good Choices, We are Drug and Bully Free!” We will have a slogan and an activity each day to help remind the students to be live healthy and be drug and bully free! In Kindergarten we discuss how to stay healthy and take care of ourselves and how to handle bully situations. To view the theme for each day please look on my blog.
LANGUAGE ARTS: We continued to work on our phonics skills this week. We learned about the letters n and p. We practiced writing the letter and how it looks and sounds at the beginning of words. We also worked on sorting our letters and pictures. During readers workshop we have been learning what to do when we don’t know a word in a book we are reading. We started a unit on informational writing this week. We learned about spiders and how to write facts about them. We will be learning about bats next week. Please continue to work on sight words at home. Students will need to know 25 sight words by the end of the second nine week period.
MATH: We have been working on our teen numbers this week. We will continue to work on this unit until we reach 20.
INTEGRATED STUDIES: We have been unable to spend much time on science and social studies this past week due to the short days. We will be starting a unit on night and day next week.
Have a great weekend.
