Now that the school year is in full swing, it is time to begin to prepare for the T Drive migration to SharePoint. SharePoint will better accommodate your data storage needs while maintaining a high level of security. It also allows easier access to school resources and files from any location without the use of the VPN off campus.
As your school begins moving resources from the T Drive to the School Staff Site on SharePoint, we have some questions and answers to ensure a smooth transition.
Q: How do I access the School Staff Site on SharePoint?
A: All schools now have access to their SharePoint, located in Office 365. Once you have logged into Office 365, click on the waffle in the upper left corner, then choose All Apps. The first time you access the School Staff Site, you will have to scroll down to find the site. After the initial attempt, you will be able to favorite the site for quick access. Then you can navigate to SharePoint via the tile on the Office 365 Dashboard to find your School Staff Site. Click here for a video with full directions and images.
Q: What files do I move to the SharePoint?
A: Before you begin moving documents to the School Staff Site, take time to organize and clean out the folders on the T Drive. Be mindful of the age of the resources and move only the files that teachers and staff will actively use. During the clean out process, if you find that you have materials that you want to keep but do not want to transfer to the School Staff Site on SharePoint, move these to a flash drive or external hard drive. It is always wise to have your documents stored in multiple locations.
Please contact your local school TTIS for assistance in locating your School Staff Site and to help you in the planning process for moving your resources to SharePoint.
