A Lovinggood ensemble will perform at the Atlanta Hawks game on Wednesday, January 24. Tickets are available for $35.00. The attached flyer can be placed in a school payment envelope with the money for tickets. All ordered tickets will be given to the student before game day. Checks should be made payable to Lovinggood Middle School. All payments must be submitted by Friday, January 19.
All summative assessment scores will be posted in Synergy on Monday evening (12/18/17). Students who would like a higher grade will be allowed to take a make-up assessment on Wednesday morning between 8:00 am and 8:45 am in the chorus room.
As of tonight, UPS cannot tell me when the shirts will be processed for pickup. All students are asked to wear a nice long-sleeved sweater or top with their black bottom and black shoes. Short sleeves are fine if that is available at this late date. The color of the top does not matter. Solids, however, work better for video purposes, if you are planning to record. Please do not purchase anything. The main goal of the night is to enjoy the students’ performance.
I hope that everyone is recovering from the snow storm. Because there is no school on Monday, there will not be a Monday afternoon rehearsal. Students will work through all necessary components during their class period on Tuesday.
The concert oxford shirt delivery has been delayed, due to the weather. I have spent most of the past two days at UPS trying to work things out. I will send an update via email in regards to the arrival of the shirts. If they do not arrive, students will be asked to wear a nice top with their black bottoms and black dress shoes. Again, an update will be sent after I venture to the UPS distribution center once again tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.
The results for all solos, ensembles, and narrations are posted below. Students with longer narrations will be allowed to read them. The great thing about no school on Monday is that everyone will have ample time to rehearse!
A note about auditions:
If you see a name more than once, it may be because very few students auditioned for a part.
Some students did not audition for parts that are ideal for their voice at this time. Don’t forget that there will be opportunities in the spring.
A few parts were assigned (Statewide Honor Chorus, “I Saw Mommy” duet). We always feature our statewide students (5 of them this year) on at least one of our concerts.
Only students who auditioned were selected. All students were given the opportunity to audition for every part (except those assigned). All auditions took place during the class period so that everyone had an opportunity.
Students may submit a video with the 1-minute dance. Video audition submissions must be received by 9:00 pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017, in order to be considered. Send recorded videos to [email protected]
Reminder of moves:
“Rudolph, the red-nosed…”: two grapevines with snaps. Lean forward, lean back, lean forward, lean back.
“And if you ever saw it…”: two grapevines with snaps. V-arms down, V-arms, up, V-arms down, V-arms up.
“All of the other…”: act as if you are pointing and laughing at Rudolph.
“They never…”: act as if you are walking away from Rudolph.
“Then one foggy…”: act as if you are surprised at Santa’s question.
“Then how the reindeer…”: two grapevines with snaps. Lean forward, lean back, lean forward, lean back.
“Rudolph, the red-nosed…”: two grapevines with snaps. V-arms down, V-arms, up, V-arms down, V-arms up. Jazz hands down.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring…not even a mouse!
All the stockings were hung by the chimney with care in the hope that Saint Nicholas soon would be there.
So, on Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer and Vixen. On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the roof, to the top of the wall. Here they come and they’re sayin’, “Merry Christmas to all!”
