GMEA All-State Chorus Audition Info

The time has come for GMEA All-State Chorus audition preparation. This is not a mandatory event. It is designed to allow advanced musicians to sing at the GMEA All-State Chorus event in Athens, GA, in February. The students must pass two auditions (November 9 and January 17). Those who pass both auditions will perform with other Georgia choral music scholars. All 7th and 8th grade students are eligible to audition. The students have been given a detailed explanation of the audition requirements. The attached letter offers details about the first audition. This event will test the student’s individual ability to sing a state-selected solo, three scales in their vocal range, and read three music lines at first sight.

The first audition takes place in Cartersville, GA, on Saturday, November 9. The non-refundable registration fee is $25.00 per student. This fee and permission slip is due by Wednesday, September 4, 2019. Please see the attached letter for more details.

I look forward to working with the students who accept this challenge. Students have already begun to prepare by learning the state-selected solo during their class periods. We will rehearse on Thursday mornings from 8:15-8:50, beginning on September 15. We will also rehearse on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:15, beginning on September 18. allstate aud 2019 opening letter
