On Friday we gained another beautiful new student. We would like to welcome Maisa to our class. We look forward to becoming friends with all 3 of our new superheroes!!!

Whew! Last week might have only been a two day school week, but we were very busy in room 23. I hope you enjoyed your inclement weather day off. I have spent some time updating our class Edublog today which can be found at www.cobblearning.net/christinahenry. Honestly, I have spent more time on our class Seesaw account this school year than on the schoolwide required Edublog. The Edublog is basically used for informational updates and learning websites. The Seesaw account has everything; from information to fun photos and videos of what’s happening in our classroom. I have been experimenting with Seesaw for the first time this year and I love it! I hope you do too. All classroom parents, please be sure to let me know if you do not have access our Seesaw account. It is a private account for our class family members. I would be glad to re-send the login info. I look forward to seeing the kids back in class tomorrow.

More Updates for the New Year

Sad news: Two of our sweet girls moved over the break. We will miss them so much! Goodbye to Gamimila and Alisson. We hope you meet lots of new friends in the new year! Keep in touch.

Happy news: We have two sweet new boys! We would like to give a hearty welcome to Blake and Derek. We are so excited that you have joined our Superhero class.

Parents, Please be patient with the teachers as we get set up for 2018. There are several changes such as new seating arrangements, new behavior sheets, new friends to get to know, etc. I am also working steadfastly to give last minute assessments to those who were sick before the break so that I can send home report cards tomorrow. Today we are privileged to have a Cobb County fire fighter visit to teach us about fire safety. It will be a very busy and exciting first day back. In light of that, we might not be able to get to all students for the sight word check I wrote about yesterday. Thank you for understanding. Mrs. Henry and Mrs. McLemore

Updates

FYI: Before giving new sight words to students this week we will individually review all of the words on the ring to ensure that the words given formerly are in the long term memory. Also, I will do one last check to see that students remember street address, city, state, and nation before filling out report cards. Tonight would be a good time to do a quick review. Lastly, remember that kidsa-z.com is a fantastic resource for fun and motivating reading practice. The students enjoy spending their points to create the robot. Another one of the great features with this program is the voice recording. Students can record themselves reading aloud and this will be shared with their teacher—very cool!!!

Gingerbread Party Reminder

Please send in any gingerbread house donations by tomorrow (Friday) if you have not already done so. I will need to purchase any missing supplies this weekend. Also, if you signed up to help construct houses please be at the school tomorrow morning at 8:00. Thank you for your support. We could not have this fun activity for the kids without your help. We hope to see you for the really fun decorating part on Monday at 12:00.
