Mission and Vision Statement of Clay Elementary Counseling Program

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive developmental program that addresses the academic, social emotional, and career needs of all students.  Our goal is to provide for every student a supportive, accepting and encouraging atmosphere in which they have a voice to express any concerns that may hinder their academic and social success, so that they can be productive contributors in a global society.  Our vision is for all students to improve in academics, career and social emotional development as a result of counselor interventions.

We believe:

  • All Children Can Learn
  • Character Education is essential to a child’s development
  • Students should be lifelong learners
  • All students have a right to a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Learning is the shared responsibility of the home, school and community
  • All students have the right to be heard and treated with dignity and respect
  • All students have the right to services that support academic, career and emotional/social growth
  • All students have the right to a credentialed school counselor who is accessible, collaborates with other educators, families, and the community as an advocate for student success

And that our School Counseling Program

  • Reaches every student
  • Is developmental and preventive in nature
  • Is an integral part of the educational program for student success
  • Utilizes the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Standards
  • Is implemented by credentialed school counselors and is conducted in collaboration with students, other educators, families, and the community
  • Evaluates effectiveness annually and seeks improvement
  • Strives to remove barriers to learning

Career Day at Clay!

We are excited  about our Career Day on March 17, 2017   9:00-11:00 a.m

This is a school wide event in effort to introduce our students to the “World of Work” and some of the different career choices available within the  17 Career Clusters!

It is our goal to have each cluster represented at our Career Day. If you are interested in participating in our Career Day, please contact one of your School Counselors to find out where your career fits in to one of the 17 clusters.
