Week of November 13-17

Monday-Wednesday: We will be using what we have learned about weather and climate to write a script for a weather forecast.

Thursday-Friday: We will be presenting our weather forecasts to the class. Students should be able to present without reading the script, have good eye contact, and speak clearly for all to hear. This will count as a Summative grade.

Week of Nov. 6-10

Monday: read about Air Masses and complete a graphic organizer

Tuesday: No School

Wednesday: read about Air Fronts and complete a graphic organizer

Thursday: Air Masses and Fronts practice and lab

Friday: Severe Weather (causes and  safety)

Next week we will be working on a weather forecast project where students have to present a weather forecast to the class. This will be the summative for the weather unit instead of a written test.

Week of October 16-20

Monday & Tuesday: Read article on “The Atmosphere” and complete a graphic organizer

HW: review packet due Friday and anyone scoring a 73 or below on last week’s test needs to do a retake this week.

Week of Oct. 2-6

Monday: Review eclipses & tides

Tuesday-Thursday: We will investigate indirect rays, direct rays, tilt of the earth, and how they affect the seasons. On Wednesday we will take notes, and Wednesday and Thursday we will do a lab.

HW Beginning Wednesday: the students will be given a study guide to complete at home…this is due Monday, October 9. Our Unit 2 Test (moon phases, tides, eclipses, & seasons) will be Wednesday, October 11.

Friday: LEAP Day in the computer lab. Students will be reading, analyzing, & discussing an article on how the seasons occur.

Week of September 18-22

Unit 1 Test: Students making below a 74 have the opportunity to do a retest on the Astronomy Unit. Students were given corrections to make which they can then turn in to Mrs. Claypool or Mrs. Daetwyler as a “ticket” to retest. The students need to let the teachers know when they would like to take a retest which will be averaged with the first test grade. Options for retesting are: come to morning tutoring any morning this week (opens at 7:45) or come see Mrs. Claypool during homeroom or stay for Tuesday or Thursday afternoon tutoring (permission slip needed).

Monday: Moon Phase Practice
