Welcome Back!

Welcome to Mrs. Llewallyn’s Target Class!

Dear 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Target Parents,

Welcome to the gifted program (also known as Target) at Pickett’s Mill!

There will be an Open House for Mrs. Llewallyn’s 1st and 2nd grade Target parents on Monday, August 19th  and an Open House for 3rd-5th grade parents on August 21st from 7:15-7:50 a.m. in room #315.   This morning meeting will be for Target parents only. Your student should be in his/her regular classroom. The meeting will cover many of the general topics of how the target classroom works, the schedule, supplies, and how Target differs from the regular classroom.  In case you are unable to make it, here is the Target supply list:

2” three-ring binder

8 dividers with pockets (makes it much easier for students to place work in correct place)

Sharpened #2 pencils

Zipper pencil pouch with three ring holes

wide-ruled notebook paper

box of 24 crayons

Optional donation items: Expo dry erase markers, bags of individually wrapped candy, quart Ziploc bags,                                                          paper plates, treasure box items, washable markers, crayons, and colored pencils

Please have your child bring their Target supplies to school on the first day of Target if possible.  Target classes will begin the week of August 12th.  Please see the schedule below.  Students will check in with their homeroom teacher before coming to Target. Students will dismiss from target class, so please notify the target teacher of any dismissal changes on target day. On Target days, your child will bring their Target binder/supplies, book bag, snack, & lunch with them to Target.  Our lunch time is 10:41-11:11 a.m.

Mondays:  4th Grade (Soued & Ewers)

Tuesdays:  3rd Grade (Rooke & Saleeby)

Wednesdays: 5th Grade (Mills)

Thursdays: 2nd Grade (Aiken, Hilliard, & Weiss)

Target is a BYOD-Bring Your Own Device classroom (grades 2-5 only), so if your child has a device they would like to bring to Target each week, you will need to complete the necessary paperwork for target class first (even if you’ve already completed paperwork for your child’s homeroom teacher). In addition, your child must understand the responsibility & expectations of bringing a device each week to Target.

I look forward to working with your child and meeting you at the Target Open House.  If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please email me.

Your child will be required to check the target teacher’s class blog weekly for Target homework & assignments.

Target’s BYOD Guidelines

BYOD Rules for Pickett’s Mill Classes
Remember, bringing a device to school is a privilege and there must be certain rules in place in order for a BYOD classroom to be effective. Please read the following rules, sign the bottom, and return.

1. I will only access the internet via the CCSDBYOD network.

2. I will not install apps or sign up for websites at school.

3. I will only use my device for approved educational use unless a teacher gives me permission otherwise.

4. I will not use the camera or video feature without teacher permission. If I do use it with teacher permission, I will not post the pictures or videos on any Social Media site.

5. I am the only student allowed to use my device.

6. I am responsible for keeping my device safe.

7. I will only use my device in class while under teacher supervision (no bus, ASP, etc).

3 Strikes and Your Device Is Out!
If I choose to break these rules the consequences are:
1st time – I will not have the privilege to use my device at school for 24 hours.
2nd time – I will not have the privilege to use my device at school for 1 week.
3rd time – I will no longer have the privilege of bringing my device to school for the remainder of the school year.

We are off to a great start!!!

Please check your child’s target Seesaw for updates, overview of our target day, and more! If you have any questions, please let me know.
