This fall, I will be stepping out of my comfort zone and returning to school to obtain my educational specialist degree from Kennesaw State University. The last time I was a student was almost ten years ago. When I got my master’s degree, I had only been out of school for my bachelor’s degree for a year or two. It was very easy to step back in to the role of student. Now that I’ve been out of school for a while, I’m a little nervous about how I’ll step back into that position.
There are a few differences in my life this time around. First off, I am now a wife and mother to a very active preschooler. I am also not a classroom teacher at this point in my career. I do have classrooms and teachers who will be willing to allow me to try new strategies/tools with students. However, they are not MY students.
I’m excited about obtaining this new degree and learning as much as I can for my career.
