Week of 1/14

Hey Spartans!

We want to introduce our new intern for this semester, India Harris. India is completing her final semester of the M.Ed. in professional counseling program at the University of West Georgia. She has 5+ years of experience working in youth development and is excited to be at CMS!

Pebblebrook Auditions are at 1:00 in the theater this Wednesday. Auditions are only for students who have turned in a completed application to Mrs. Valencia.

Multicultural Night is next Thursday, January 24 from 6:00-8:00pm. Come out to sample food from cultures around the world 🙂

Week of 12/17

Hey Spartans 🙂

We are in the home stretch, 5 more days until Holiday Break!!

Just a reminder this Thursday and Friday are half days. We will be dismissing at 1:30 both days.

We have had a wonderful Fall Semester and look forward to having an even better Spring Semester. We will be out of the office and away from email from 12/22-1/3.

Hey Spartans 🙂

2 more weeks till Holiday Break!!

We are finishing up the Georgia Student Health Surveys this week in Social Studies.

This Thursday is our 4th annual College Day for 8th grade students. Our goal is to have 8th grade students enter high school with post-secondary educational plans in mind, whether its college, selecting a career/trade, becoming a first responder, or joining the military. Each 8th grade student will have the opportunity to hear from 4 speakers, who will share their experience with post-secondary education and how it has shaped their life.

This week is a Fresh Air Friday and a $2.00 Jeans Day.

Hey Spartans 🙂

In the counseling office, we are getting ready for the holiday break. 3 more weeks!

8th grade students completed their “My Skills” Inventory on This website is a great tool for college and career research. All students have access to their accounts from school and home. If you need help logging in, please contact your grade level counselor.

All students will be taking the Georgia Student Health Survey through Social Studies this week. This survey is way for us to measure our school climate and to show us where we need to make improvements.

Just a reminder, Ms. Lester will be out of the office Tuesday and Wednesday for a Restorative Practices training. Should an emergency arise, please contact Ms. Gorrell or Mrs. Valencia.

Hey Spartans!!

This week we start Red Ribbon Week. This is a week where we celebrate being “Drug Free”. In addition to a lesson, students will sign a pledge to remain “Drug Free” and will be able to participate in Red Ribbon Week spirit days.

Spirit Days

  • 10/25 Thursday– “Put a Cap on Drugs” Hat Day ($1.00) + Pink Out Day for Cancer Awareness (free)
  • 10/26 Friday– “Too Cool for Drugs” Sunglasses
  • 10/29 Monday– “Friends Don’t Let Friends Do Drugs” Twin Day
  • 10/30 Tuesday– “Drugs are Whack!” Whacky Socks Day
  • 10/31 Wednesday– “Drugs are Scary” Halloween Costumes + Jeans Day ($2.00

Talent Show this Thursday at 6:30 in the theater.

Week of 10/15

Hey Spartans!!

It’s conference week. Monday-Friday students will be getting out at 1:30pm.

Make sure to schedule a conference with your student’s homeroom teacher if you haven’t already done so. Homeroom teachers will be discussing your student’s progress and how they can make improvements in Quarter 2. If you would like your student’s counselor to attend the conference, please send us an email and we will be there.

7th Grade students will be getting a counseling lesson on Consent through Social Studies. Here is link to the lesson.

8th Grade students: If you are interested in applying to Magnet School, Ms. Valencia is offering application help sessions during conference week Monday-Thursday after school till 4pm in the 8th grade computer lab. Make sure you have a ride.
