Welcome to Griffin Middle School. My name is Tiffany Comer-Hull. This is my 16th year teaching at Griffin. WHO ARE WE?

The Griffin Foundation is a non-profit organization formed for the sole

purpose of raising funds beyond those currently provided by the Cobb County

School District to fund elements of education such as technology

enhancements, supplemental enriched curriculum, student services, additional

faculty and capital improvements.

WHAT HAVE WE FUNDED THE PAST 4 YEARS?

• Awarded over $30,000 in Teacher Grants, providing additional resources

and tools in the classrooms, including this past year: iPads & Kindles,

Media Cart & books in Learning Commons, tuners and metronomes for

Band & Orchestra

• Repainting/refurbishing of the theater; printers for all computer labs

• Headphones for all computers; picnic tables in the Memorial Garden

• Created an annual Legacy Award for two students who have achieved

personal growth through perseverance

This week we will remediate for the Math Milestone Retakes. The retakes will be given May 23rd and May 24th. Please begin to review all the topics  and websites listed below to prepare for the Milestone Retakes.

Students please continue to review integer computation, solving multi-step equations, plotting and identifying points on a coordinate plane, computing exponents,  cubed roots, perfect and non-perfect squares and cubed roots with and with out estimation, negative square roots, rational and irrational numbers,  converting, adjusting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in scientific notation,and computing using the Pythagorean theorem, finding the volume of a cylinder, cone and sphere, functions and relations, linear and non linear equations and word problems, slopes and y intercepts, graphing slope equations, and scatter plots, line of best fit, correlations, motion and qualitative graphs, 2 way tables and frequency tables,  system of equations (graphing, substitution, elimination, word problems) along with what we have previously learned in class on a daily basis, inclusive of your homework assignments. Most of these skills will be used throughout 8th grade in every unit and also when you move onto 9th grade.  These skills are imperative to learn in order to progress this and next school year!!

Lesson Plans May 1, 2017  thru May 5, 2017

This week we will continue where we left off in Unit 7 (System of Equations), reviewing daily the graphing and substitution methods of the systems.  At the beginning of each class period, we will continue reviewing for our Math Milestone test which will be given  April  24th and 25th. Lesson Plans March 20, 2017  thru March 24, 2017

 At the beginning of each class period, we will continue reviewing for our Math Milestone test which will be given  April  24th and 25th. We will continue Unit 6 this week, which focused on Linear Models and Tables. Monday we will take a quiz on analyzing motion and qualitative graphs that we covered last week. We will also learn how to analyze 2 way tables with 1 missing number. Tuesday and Wednesday  we will learn how to complete and analyze 2 way tables with multiple missing numbers. Thursday we will review changing fractions to percent,  and learn how to complete, analyze and find the frequency of 2 way tables. Friday, we will take an assessment on 2 way tables that we’ve learned this week.

 At the beginning of each class period, we will continue reviewing for our Math Milestone test which will be given  April  24th and 25th. We will continue Unit 6 this week, which focused on Linear Models and Tables. Monday  we will continue learning how to identify and create scatter plots and correlations. Tuesday we will learn how to create and find the line of best fit in a scatter plot. Wednesday we will take an assessment on the topics we covered in the unit this far ( scatter plots, correlations, linear word problems, and line of best fit). Thursday and Friday we will learn how to interpret motion and qualitative graphs.

Students please continue to review integer computation, solving multi-step equations, plotting and identifying points on a coordinate plane, computing exponents,  cubed roots, perfect and non-perfect squares and cubed roots with and with out estimation, negative square roots, rational and irrational numbers,  converting, adjusting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in scientific notation,and computing using the Pythagorean theorem, finding the volume of a cylinder, cone and sphere, functions and relations, linear and non linear equations and word problems, slopes and y intercepts, graphing slope equations, and scatter plots, line of best fit, correlations, motion and qualitative graphs, along with what we have previously learned in class on a daily basis, inclusive of your homework assignments. Most of these skills will be used throughout 8th grade in every unit.  These skills are imperative to learn in order to progress this school year!!
