In class this week, we will continue Unit 7 which incorporates Rational Expressions: numbers and their opposites.  We will continue the unit reviewing opposites (positive and negative numbers) , absolute value, ordering integers and solving them in inequalities.  We will then move on to graphing and plotting integers. In addition, this week we will discuss and learn how to plot points on the coordinate plane. We will take a quiz on Friday on the coordinate plane system.

Please remember that 6th grade Field day is on Tuesday.

Also, please visit the website AAAmath .com as a review resource for your child in math and have them review their graphic organizers and classwork on a daily basis, regardless if they have  homework or not. This will ensure them comprehending and retaining the information learned in class. Be sure to check synergy on a regular basis in order to keep up with your child’s progress in math and all their classes.

In class this week, we will continue Unit 7 which incorporates Rational Expressions: numbers and their opposites.  We will continue the unit looking at opposites (positive and negative numbers) and absolute value.  We will then move on to integer word meanings and ordering integers. A quiz will be given on the topics mentioned above on Wednesday.  Also on Wednesday, we will discuss the meaning of integers, their value, and how to order them on a number line and solve them correctly in an inequality. On Thursday and Friday, we will complete an integers and graphing task which focuses on the topics learned this week.

The Georgia Milestone Test will continue this week, Monday and Tuesday.  On,  Wednesday we play cumulative review games focusing on units 1-6: Unit 1 (number and operations), Unit 2 (rate, ratio and proportional reasoning, Unit 3 (expressions), Unit 4 (one step equations and inequalities) and Unit 5 (area and volume). On Thursday, we will start Unit 7 which incorporates Rational Expressions: numbers and their opposites.  We will start the unit looking at opposites (positive and negative number) and then move to absolute value.

Please make sure that you child continues to review for the Georgia Milestone, and that they get enough sleep and an appropriate breakfast so that they are well prepared for the Georgia Milestone. It is also imperative that you child be at school everyday and on time for the test. The Georgia Milestone continues  on April 20, 2015 and concludes April 21, 2015.

Welcome back. I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break. In class this week we will wrap up our preparations for the Georgia Milestone. The math portion of the Georgia Milestone test will be given on Friday,April 17, 2015. In preparation for the test we have reviewed one unit per day  in class. We have reviewed unit notes, classroom study guides and tests. We will also focus on the most troubling topics from each unit. The units that we will cover this week are as follows: Unit 1 (number and operations), Unit 2 (rate, ratio and proportional reasoning, Unit 3 (expressions), Unit 4 (one step equations and inequalities) and Unit 5 (area and volume). This week will cover the last unit, Unit 6 (Statistics), and focus on reviewing and answering in remaining questions in regards to all units. We will also include focusing on test preparation tips .

Please make sure that you child continues to review for the Georgia Milestone, and that they get enough sleep and an appropriate breakfast so that they are well prepared for the Georgia Milestone. It is also imperative that you child be at school everyday and on time for the test. The Georgia Milestone begins on April 15, 2015 and concludes April 21, 2015.
