Welcome back and I hope everyone enjoyed their Fall break. We will begin this week continuing Unit 2 which again, address exponents and equations. We will continue to review square roots and perfect squares, please continue to also do this at home on a daily basis. On Monday and Tuesday we will learn how to estimate and graph non perfect squares on a number line, and take a quiz on these concepts on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday’s lesson will focus on estimating and graphing negative non perfect squares on a number line. Please make sure that you know how to read and interpret a number line that includes positive and negative numbers before Thursday
 Please visit the website AAAmath .com as a review resource for your child in math and have them review their graphic organizers and classwork on a daily basis, regardless if they have  homework or not. This will ensure them comprehending and retaining the information learned in class.  Thank you.

We will begin this week reviewing for our Unit 1 Test which focuses on angle relationships, translations, dilations, reflections and rotations. We will start our Unit 1 Test on Tuesday and complete it on Wednesday. Test corrections for Unit 1 will take place on Thursday. We will also begin Unit 2 on Thursday. Unit 2 address exponents and equations. On Thursday we will review square roots and perfect squares, and practice them on Friday, along with taking a perfect square quiz.

Please remember students will receive their first progress reports for the school year on Friday, September 18, 2015. Just a reminder, Fall break begins, Monday, September 21st and concludes Friday, September 25th. Students return to school on Monday, September 28, 2015. Have a great Fall break!

We will begin class this week finishing our quiz on translations and dilations. We will then continue with the last part of Unit 1 which focuses on transformations. Students have been  given a graphic organizer which summarizes the definitions and gives examples on how to translate, dilate, rotate and reflect figures on a coordinate plane. Please have them review this nightly. On Tuesday and Wednesday we will begin to focus on reflections moving onto Thursday and Friday, focusing on rotations. The students will watch a power point on reflections and rotations, they will also review a graphic organizer that focuses on reflections and rotations. They will then be given problem sheets on reflections and rotations to work on and review in class.
