Welcome back, and I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring break and are ready for the Georgia Milestone Testing that will begin on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. The Math portion of the Georgia Milestone test will take place on Friday, April 15, 2016.
This week we will begin Unit 7, which focuses on Solving Systems of Equations.  Monday we will focus on solving system of equations using the substitution method, Tuesday, the elimination method, and Wednesday, the graphing method. We will  do our DRAW (discuss read and write lesson) on Thursday, which focuses on solving system of equations using word problems. Being that the math portion of the Georgia Milestone Test will take place on Friday, in class we will just complete various math concept puzzles.
Please continue to review, how to set up and write the equation of a slope in slope intercept form, solving integers and one and two step equations on a daily basis and studying for all portions of the Georgia Milestone Test.
Please visit the website AAAmath .com as a review resource for your child in math and have them review their graphic organizers and classwork on a daily basis, regardless if they have  homework or not. This will ensure them comprehending and retaining the information learned in class.  Thank you.

This week we will conclude Unit 6, which focuses on Linear Models and Tables.  Monday we will continue finding the distance and speed when give a graph, and take a quiz on this concept on Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, we will begin our Unit 6 Study Guide in class with students completing the study guide and home in preparation to review it on Wednesday. Wednesday, we will complete reviewing the Unit 6 Study Guide. We will take our Unit 6 Test on Thursday and conclude it on Friday.  We will not do our DRAW (discuss read and write lesson) this week due to the Unit 6 Test.
Please continue to review, from this unit,  identifying the constant of proportionality, identifying and plotting scatter plots on a graph and their correlations, recognizing slopes in tables and graphs and interpreting the information so that it can be written as a story, how to identify the line of best fit in a scatter plot, how to solve problems in the standard form of linear equations using the line of best fit and the y-y/x-x method, constructing, analyzing and interpreting 2 way and relative frequency tables and finding the distance and speed when give a graph in preparation for our Unit 6 Test on Friday.  Also, continue to review how to set up and write the equation of a slope in slope intercept form, solving integers and one and two step equations on a daily basis.

Please remember that our Spring Break begins Monday, April 4, 2015 and ends Friday, April 8, 2015. Students return to school on Monday, April 11, 2016. The Georgia Milestone (EOG) for Math will be given on Friday, April 15, 2016. Please take some time and study for the Georgia Milestone test over Spring Break!! 🙂
