Lesson Plans October 3, 2016 thru October 7, 2016:
I hope everyone had a great Fall Break!
On Monday we will make test corrections/retake for the Unit 1 test that was given the Friday before Fall break. We will also begin Unit 2 ( Exponents and Equations.) Students will be given a perfect square sheet to use for future reference throughout this unit. They will also complete a multiplication chart that highlights the perfect squares required for this unit. Tuesday we will focus on how exponents and perfect squares relate and take a quiz on finding perfect square square roots. Wednesday we will move into finding cubed roots and complete a practice task related to this subject. Thursday is our annual DRAW (Discuss, Read, Analyze and Write) lesson. The DRAW lesson will review perfect square and cubed roots and move into an introduction of estimating non-perfect squares. Friday, we will focus on estimating non-perfect squares using a number line.
Please be aware that this grading period will end Friday, October 7, 2016. Conference week will take place Monday, October 17th thru Friday, October 21, 2016. These will be early release days for all students.
Students please continue to review integer computation, solving 1 and 2 step equations, plotting and identifying points on a coordinate plane, computing exponents, cubed roots, perfect and non-perfect squares, along with what we have previously learned in class on a daily basis, inclusive of your homework assignments. These skills will be used throughout 8th grade in every unit. These skills are imperative to learn in order to progress this school year!!
Please use the websites AAAMath.com and the website below to assist you with your learning objectives in math class.
Parents please check Parent View in Synergy at least weekly to keep up with your child’s progress in math.
