Lesson Plans December 19, 2016 thru January 6, 2017

This week, we will begin Unit 3 ( Geometric Applications of Exponents). Monday and Tuesday  we will learn the meaning and how to compute using the Pythagorean Theorem. We will also take a summative assessment on the computation of the Pythagorean theorem on Tuesday.  Wednesday  and Thursday we will convert the Pythagorean theorem and use the formula to determine if the lengths of a triangle form a right angle. Friday we will  a quiz on the conversion of the theorem and determining right angles. Friday we will  be do our  annual DRAW (Discuss, Read, Analyze and Write) lesson which focuses on using the Pythagorean theorem that involve word problems.

Students please continue to review integer computation, solving multi-step equations, plotting and identifying points on a coordinate plane, computing exponents,  cubed roots, perfect and non-perfect squares and cubed roots with and with out estimation, negative square roots, rational and irrational numbers,  converting, adjusting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in scientific notation, and computing using the Pythagorean theorem along with what we have previously learned in class on a daily basis, inclusive of your homework assignments. Most of these skills will be used throughout 8th grade in every unit.  These skills are imperative to learn in order to progress this school year!!
