Lesson Plans January  30 thru February 3, 2017

Beginning Monday, at the beginning of each class period, we will start reviewing for our Milestone test which we be given in April. We will continue Unit 4 on Monday, which focuses on functions.  We will remain on this Unit approximately two and a half weeks, so please be present every day. On Monday we will review functions and relations, along with linear and non linear graphs and then take a test on these topics . Tuesday we will learn how to complete and compute linear and non linear function tables.  On Wednesday we will work on a task that involves determining linear functions.   Thursday we will  do our  annual DRAW Lesson (Discuss, Read, Analyze and Write), which focuses on functions in verbal form. The beginning of the period of Thursday we will take a mastery quiz on functions and linear equations.  On Friday, we will learn how to compare functions.

Students please continue to review integer computation, solving multi-step equations, plotting and identifying points on a coordinate plane, computing exponents,  cubed roots, perfect and non-perfect squares and cubed roots with and with out estimation, negative square roots, rational and irrational numbers,  converting, adjusting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in scientific notation, and computing using the Pythagorean theorem, finding the volume of a cylinder, cone and sphere, functions and relations, linear and non linear equations along with what we have previously learned in class on a daily basis, inclusive of your homework assignments. Most of these skills will be used throughout 8th grade in every unit.  These skills are imperative to learn in order to progress this school year!!

Please check the Griffin website for all before and after school tutoring days and times and Saturday School information for students needing extra help.

In the coming weeks we will begin our DEAR program in homeroom which focuses on reading and our Extended class program which focuses on reading and preparing for the math milestone.
