I  hope everyone is enjoying the 8th grade at Griffin Middle School, time is flying byl! Again, my name is Mrs.  Comer-Hull and I am your child’s 8th grade math teacher.  Please feel free to contact me about any questions or concerns you may have. Lesson Plans March 6, 2017  thru March 10, 2017

 At the beginning of each class period, we will continue reviewing for our Milestone test which will be given in April. We will conclude Unit 5 this week, which focused on Linear Functions. Monday  and Tuesday we will complete and review the Study Guide for Unit 5 and take the Unit 5 Test on Wednesday. Thursday we will start Unit 6, which focuses on  Linear Models and Tables. We will start Unit 6 with our  annual DRAW Lesson (Discuss, Read, Analyze and Write), which focuses on setting up and solving Linear Model Word Problems. On Friday, we will learn to create, compare and identify scatter plots.

Students please continue to review integer computation, solving multi-step equations, plotting and identifying points on a coordinate plane, computing exponents,  cubed roots, perfect and non-perfect squares and cubed roots with and with out estimation, negative square roots, rational and irrational numbers,  converting, adjusting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in scientific notation,and computing using the Pythagorean theorem, finding the volume of a cylinder, cone and sphere, functions and relations, linear and non linear equations and word problems, slopes and y intercepts, graphing slope equations, and scatter plots, along with what we have previously learned in class on a daily basis, inclusive of your homework assignments. Most of these skills will be used throughout 8th grade in every unit.  These skills are imperative to learn in order to progress this school year!!
