Today the students continued to practice finding the volume and surface area of rectangular prisms and cubes.  The students will have a Unit 5 Test on Wednesday, February 28th when they return from the break!

Thursday, February 15th

Today the students continued to practice to find the volume of a rectangular prism.  They then began to practice the differences between volume and surface area of rectangular prisms. I have provided links below for your student to practice these concepts.

Tuesday, February 13th

Friday, February 9th

After completing the 3-D Nets notes, the students are using their understanding and knowledge of nets and 3-dimensional shapes to continue practicing finding the surface area of rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, square-based pyramids, and cubes. The Mid Unit Quiz has been moved from today to Monday, February 12th. I have added tutorial videos and games/additional practice for your student below.

Tuesday – Thursday, February 6th – 8th

Today the students began to create their “3D Nets” notes. We are cutting and gluing 2-dimensional nets to create 3-dimensional shapes. The students completed this project in class. This is a graded assignment, as they are required to show their understanding of how to apply the formulas for area of triangles and rectangles to find surface area of nets or 3-dimensional shapes.

Monday, February 5th

Today the students reviewed and reflected on their Exit Ticket from Friday. We continued to practice and review how to find the area of quadrilaterals, triangles, and composite shapes.

We will have a Mid Unit Quiz on Friday, February 9th.

Thursday, February 1st

Monday, January 29th

Today the students began to discuss and practice finding the area of triangles.  They began the lesson by watching the Math Antics Video on Area, and then they practiced solving for the area of triangles with a few handouts.  I have provided the Math Antics video below for additional reference, as well as some online practice for your student.
