Blocks 1, 3, 5: Today in class you watched a short video version of “The Tell-tale Heart” and then used your notes from the video and your copy of the story to compare/contrast how the story was presented. You should have completed your Venn diagram and your paragraph today in class.

Blocks 1, 3, 5: Today in class we continued discussing mood and read a story by Edgar Allan Poe, “The Tell-Tale Heart”. As we read, you should have annotated your text for point of view, mood, and vocabulary words. We will finish the story and watch a video of the story to compare/contrast what you read and what you see (GSEELA6RL7)

HW: If you have not turned in your two choice assignments, they are late!

Blocks 2, 4: Today in class we continued our discussion about part 2 of our novel. We had some great discussions about where the cameras might have been located in the games, and whether or not forming alliances were a good idea.

Blocks 1, 3, 5: Today in class we began discussing mood and how authors use setting, details and strong language to set a mood. We then watched a video about Edgar Allan Poe’s life and his works. Tomorrow in class we will be reading a story by Edgar Allan Poe.

Blocks 2, 4: Today in class you worked with your table groups to discuss 5 questions over part 2 in our novel. We will finish our discussion tomorrow.

Blocks 1, 3, 5: Today in class was our last day in the computer lab. If you did not finish and turn in your TWO assignments that you chose to complete for our novel, then you must finish them on your own time. We are back in the classroom tomorrow.

HW 1, 3, 5: If you did not turn in your two choice assignments, finish them. Remember the media center is open at 8:30 each morning for students to work.

Blocks 2, 4: Today in class we shared our “fakebook” pages and posts for part 2 of our novel. You did a great job getting into the character you chose and telling what was happening from that character’s point of view.

Blocks 1, 3, 5: Today in class we were in the computer lab for the second day so that you could work on your two choice assignments for our novel. We will be in the computer lab for the last day tomorrow. At the end of class all assignments will be due. You have your rubrics, so please be sure to check what you have done before we print tomorrow.

Blocks 1, 3, 5:  Today in class we were in the computer lab so that you could work on your Flush choice assignments. We will be in the computer lab tomorrow and Wednesday as well. Remember, your final assignments will be due at the end of class on Wednesday.

Blocks 1, 3, 5: Today in class you should have completed and turned in your warm-ups for the last two weeks. Then we discussed the menu of assignments for your Flush performance tasks. You were able to get directions/samples for some of the assignments that were a little more involved so that you could see exactly what needed to be done.

HW 1, 3, 5: None…remember we will be in the computer lab Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week to work on our performance task assignments.

Blocks 2, 4: Today in class you discussed some of the themes from the novel we are reading with your table groups and then reported out to the whole class. We will be in the computer lab on Monday to finalize all the “Fakebook” pages and then share them with each other. Here is the link for “Fakebook” if you still need it. PLEASE be sure to write down the link it assigns to your page; otherwise we will not be able to find it again!

Blocks 1, 3, 5: Today in class after you worked on your warm-up, we continued reading in our novel. We will be finishing the novel tomorrow in class! The short classes left us at a “cliffhanger” today…I’m sorry! Well, kind of sorry 🙂

HW 1, 3, 5: None

Blocks 2, 4: Today in class we read chapter 18 together aloud in class. This chapter is a pivotal chapter in the novel and Katniss undergoes some major changes. We will continue discussing this chapter tomorrow as well as the lullaby she sings to Rue and some of the symbolism and themes found in this chapter.

Blocks 1, 3, 5: Today in class we finished reading chapter 19 in our novel and then you worked on a comprehension check for chapters 16-19. If you did not have time to finish the comprehension check in class today, we will have some time to complete it tomorrow in class. Hopefully, we will also have time to read chapter 20 and discuss. We have reached the “falling action” part of the plot in our novel. We are working toward the resolution…the “rest of the story”.

Blocks 2, 4: Today in class you continued reading chapters 16-18 in our novel and updating your posts for each chapter. Tomorrow in class we will be discussing chapter 18 together and starting to analyze the chapter and its contents.
