Today in home room, you received your 5th grade milestones scores. If you did not receive yours, it is probably because: you were not in a Cobb County school, you have transferred schools, or yours was mixed in with another home room.

ALL Blocks: Today in class you started working with your self-selected groups to read an article about a particular study topic. Your group should come up with the top five most important ideas from the article and devise a way to present the information to the class.

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class we talked about working in groups and the group roles that are expected to be a part of each group to ensure that everyone participates. We practiced the group roles, working in groups, and having group discussions about a specific topic. You and your group rotated through four questions about reading and discussed your ideas before writing them on the chart.

Block 4: Today in class we divided into groups, practiced the various group roles, and had discussions about topics related to reading. Each of you in your group should have had an opportunity to take each role at least once so that you could begin to determine which role is the better “fit” for your learning style.
