Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class you should have turned in your book report. From the stack of book reports I took from the block drawers, I am saddened by the low number of book reports there are. You were assigned this book report on October 6, the day we went to the media center to check out the books. You were shown an example that day and given your template. I also put a poster sized example on the wall in the classroom with the due dates plainly seen. Now that you are in middle school, your choices affect your averages.

Today in class we went to the media center to check out a new book. Then we returned to the classroom and discussed mood/tone. We will be continuing this discussion on Monday as we explore a mini-unit on Edgar Allan Poe.

HW 1, 2, 3, 5: None

Block 4: Today in class we went to the media center and then discussed mood/tone. We will be exploring a mini-unit on Edgar Allan Poe next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class we started our webquests about the environmental issues the Carl Hiaasen wrote about in the two novels we are reading. Those of you reading Flush worked on a water pollution webquest while those of you reading Scat worked on a webquest about the endangered Florida panther. We looked at several sites containing informational text so that you could begin to understand why the author might build entire novels around these specific issues. We will have the laptops again tomorrow to continue our webquest.

HW 1, 2, 3, 5: None

Block 4: Today in class we continued our hunger presentations. We will hopefully get more than two done tomorrow so that we can finish up and get back to reading! Fantastic job today providing specific, targeted, and KIND feedback to your peers. You guys rock!
