Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class we read “The Chilkoot Trail” and talked about the important information located in the article. You should have taken notes on this information in your own words. Tomorrow after your research terms test, you will use the notes you took today to write a summary about the article.

HW 1, 2, 3, 5: research terms vocabulary test tomorrow. You have had these words and definitions since January 9 and the original test date was January 19.

Block 4: Today in class you were in the media center to take research notes about Australia. Your research terms vocabulary test will be Wednesday, January 24 since I forgot to remind you today.

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class you took your plagiarism quiz and then read an article about the Chilkoot Trail. We will be using this article to practice good note-taking skills and writing a summary before we start our research project.

Block 4: Today we were in the media center where you took your plagiarism quiz then began your research notes on Australia. We will be in the media center tomorrow and Thursday to take notes as well.

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class we discussed and practiced good note-taking. We read an article together, highlighted important information, and then created 5-7 word notes from our highlighted information. We will continue practicing note-taking next week.

Block 4: Today in class we finished our research vocabulary terms and watched a couple of videos about plagiarism. Then we took notes about plagiarism. We will meet in the media center tomorrow to work on computers for note-taking.

You were given every piece of information you need about plagiarism so you should read over your notes every night to be prepared. I have put a copy of the plagiarism power point in the class information blocks 1, 2, 3, 5 section of the blog.

ALL Blocks: Today we went to the media center to check out books 🙂

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today you checked out a biography to read for your next presentation in class. You received a graphic organizer so that you can take notes as you read. You also received the rubric showing exactly how your presentation will be graded. PLEASE do not lose these sheets. As part of your new responsibilities as a rising 7th grader, you risk having points deducted from your assignment score if you require multiple copies of the same sheets.

Welcome Back! You are now my RISING 7rh GRADE STUDENTS…it’s time to step up your responsibility and your commitment to being well-prepared for 7th grade. If you need school supplies…PLEASE remind your parents. Pencils and paper are still a necessity in school! 

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class we discussed different organizational methods found in nonfiction in preparation for our research unit that starts next week. We will be going to the media center tomorrow to check out books, so if you have any library books at home, please remember to bring them.
