Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class we started our webquests about the environmental issues the Carl Hiaasen wrote about in the two novels we are reading. Those of you reading Flush worked on a water pollution webquest while those of you reading Scat worked on a webquest about the endangered Florida panther. We looked at several sites containing informational text so that you could begin to understand why the author might build entire novels around these specific issues. We will have the laptops again tomorrow to continue our webquest.

Friday, the 13th? Yikes!

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class you worked on completing the touchstone we started yesterday. Afterwards, you had time to finish up your discussion question or your four scenes.

HW 1, 2, 3, 5: Vocabulary test Monday. Continue reading your library book for your book report.

Block 4: Today in class we had our final day in the computer lab for the public service announcements. Everyone should have finished today. If you run into any technical difficulties on Monday, we will adjust. Do not stress about this! We have very short classes all week and will probably only have time for 2 presentations or so each day.

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: As we discussed in class today, the vocabulary set two words were posted on my blog September 21. We spent a day and a half in class working on the definitions and you even were allowed to work with a partner or table group to divide the words and share the definitions.  We are now in the second nine weeks; school is your job and responsibility. I am posting the word lists a second time today so those of you who “lost” your words can have another chance to look up the definitions and study for Monday’s test.  Today in class you finished your discussion question for chapter 12 and then worked on illustrating 4 scenes that you were able to visualize clearly as we read. Those who finished early were  able to start reading chapter 13 silently.
