Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class you continued reading the next two chapters in your novels. We will be discussing the events from these chapters tomorrow and then continuing! The plots are heating up!

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class if you are reading Flush, you read chapter 6…another cliffhanger! Those of you reading Scat worked on your second set of vocabulary words for the novel. I am attaching the vocabulary words for both novels in case you didn’t finish.

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class we read chapter 6 in our novel for blocks 1, 2, 3. Block 5 Scat group read chapter 6 while Block 5 Flush group worked on the new vocabulary words.

Block 4: Today we went on a couple of “field trips” to find a classroom where we could start our documentary since my projector died. We were able to see about 25 minutes of the documentary and will continue it tomorrow.

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class you read chapter 5 silently in your novels and then answered 4 comprehension questions about the chapter. You received your vocabulary test from yesterday and have been given the opportunity to make corrections. Remember – do NOT erase your incorrect answer, just write your correct answer next to it. You will receive half credit back for each correction.

Block 4: Today in class we were in the computer lab for you to explore one of the concepts: food insecurity, food desert, poverty using Cobb Digital Library. We are beginning our informational text unit on hunger in the United States and you will need to have a basic understanding of these concepts as we being our discussions. You also received a permission slip to view the documentary, “A Place at the Table” that explores the idea of hunger in the US. These permission slips are due TOMORROW.

ALL Blocks: Today we were in the media center at “WalkerHouse: Good Books served 24/7” for a private book tasting. I hope you enjoyed getting to sample books of different genres and that you found something new that grabbed your interest.

ALL BLOCKS: Remember you have tests on Monday.

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: You have a vocabulary test over the first set of words from our novels.

 Block 4: You have a test over part one of our novel which will include the set 2 vocabulary words.

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class you had time to complete your comprehension questions for the first 4 chapters of our novels. Then you were instructed to check your vocabulary lists to make sure you have all the definitions to study for Monday’s vocabulary test. Tomorrow we will be having a “book tasting” in the media center.

HW 1, 2, 3, 5: study for vocabulary test

Block 4: Today in class you worked on your chapter 9 comprehension questions as well as your character analysis of three incidents that shaped Katniss throughout part one. If you did not finish, you should have some time Monday after your part one test (includes set 2 vocabulary words).

HW 4: Study your vocabulary words for Monday – this time the questions will be multiple choice and included with your part one test.

Welcome back from the tropical storm that thankfully spared us!

Blocks 1, 2, 3, 5: Today in class you finished reading chapter 4 in our novel and started working on your comprehension questions for chapters 1-4. We will continue this tomorrow. Remember, your vocabulary test will be on MONDAY, September 18.

HW 1, 2, 3, 5: start reviewing your vocabulary words for the test Monday

Block 4: Today in class you should have finished reading through the end of chapter 9. If you did not get to start on your chapter 9 comprehension questions, you will work on that tomorrow. Your test over part one (including the second set of vocabulary words) will be Friday unless otherwise notified. You received your set one vocabulary tests back today. If you choose, you may write an original sentence for each of the words that you did not receive full credit. These sentences will be due by Friday. You will receive a maximum of 5 points for each sentence correction to be added to your test score.

HW 4: If you choose, make test corrections by writing an original sentence using each word that received less than full credit
