7th Grade Reading:

7th Grade Reading:
Chapters 7-14 Vocabulary Quiz: 10/24

Today’s warm up was reviewing a student’s journal response. We used a checklist to determine what could be added to the response: adding textual citations and a conclusion sentence. Students completed a warm up reflection. Grades will be updated in Synergy. Students then completed a review using quizizz to study for their upcoming vocabulary quiz on Tuesday.

6th Grade Social Studies:
Europe History Teacher Notes

We completed notes over Russian Revolution. Our first challenge was be over Discovery Ticket 2 (block 1 will take it Monday!). We will start the Treaty of Versailles DBQ Monday and continue challenges. 7th Grade Reading:
Chapters 7-14 Vocabulary Quiz: 10/24

Today, we completed the warm up: week 11, #5. Today, students received three items to include in their journals: RACE (Response, Answer, Cite Evidence, Explain) strategy (color-coded and laminated ;)), a new journal rubric to include the RACE strategy, and a revised example of Journal #1. Students color coded journal #1, and then applied the color coding to their own journal entry.

7th Grade Reading:
Chapters 7-14 Vocabulary Quiz: 10/24

Today, we completed the warm u: week 11, #4. Then we updated study guides to include questions 1-5. Students also updated character traits chart. We made sure that all students had written the date of the quiz in their agendas (10/24). Students received two vocabulary study guides – they glued one into their TSB notebooks and the other went in their binders to study. If students make flash cards for their vocabulary, they can receive 5 bonus points. Vocabulary was reviewed as a class. The review included the definition, the word used in context, and pictures to illustrate the word.

Today, we went to the media center to work through our Breakout! Students had the opportunity try to solve what the “spark” was that led to World War I. So far, only one group has solved it!

7th Grade Reading:

The class completed warm up week 11, #3. Students were broken into groups in order to read chapter 5 of TSB. Students then answered journal prompt #5.

Explain how Cole admits his first mistake in Chapter 5 and how that mistake got the best of him?
Which character word does Cole seem to lack in this situation?

6th Grade Social Studies:

We continued our mystery: what was the spark that caused WWI? We read the Sarajevo Sentinel and answered reading comprehension questions. We also previewed what the breakout was going to look like for Thursday’s visit to the media center.

7th Grade Reading

Student completed warm up – week 11, #2. After the warm up, students updated their character traits chart and study guide (#3 & 4). After the study guide, students completed journal entry #4.

According to the keeper, what is the point of Circle Justice? Why do they say the regular justice system fails?*Answer in one paragraph! Include textual evidence & author’s last name and page number)

Students stapled a rubric to the journal of their choosing (either #2, 3, or 4) to be graded. Students reviewed vocabulary and took the vocabulary quiz after lunch. The vocabulary has been routinely posted on the blog and students had both a study guide handed to them last Monday (10/2) and had another copy attached into their journals.

Today, we continued working on clues and finding out more information in preparation for the breakout on Thursday! Students found out the 4 MAIN causes of World War I, but have not identified the “spark” that caused the war. Stay tuned!
