A Day/B Day (Monday /Tuesday) – We will cover continuity. Assignment from book. Quiz announced on Wed/Thur. Reminder that the problem set is due on Wed/Thur.
A Day/B Day (Wednesday/Thursday) – Quiz over visual/numeric/algebraic limits and continuity. Problem sets are due.
A Day/B Day (Friday/Monday) – Go over quizzes. New Topic – Rates of Change and Tangent Lines. This is not on the unit test.
A Day/B Day (Tuesday/Wednesday) – Chapter 2 Test (Limits and Continuity)–NO Calculators.
This week we continue with conic sections. On Monday we finish up ellipses. Tuesday we will have a short quiz covering ellipses and we will cover hyperbolas. Wednesday will be spent reviewing and firming up concepts on ellipses and hyperbolas. On Thursday we will have a short quiz on hyperbolas and cover parabolas. On Friday we will solve systems of equations involving conic sections. It appears our Unit test will be on Tuesday August 22nd.
I would like to welcome all students and parents to the blog for the 2017/18 school year.
We have finished week one and all went very well.
Accelerated PreCalculus students began a unit on matrices that will conclude this week with a unit test on Thursday. This is one of the more straight forward units and gives students a chance to get off to a good start.
AP Calculus students began the year learning how to determine limits visually. Today we had a quiz over the material. Next up we will be finding limits algebraically. After limits we will begin to look at continuity of functions.
As a school we are going to be moving towards a new blog site. I will update students once I have it set up for my classes.
We spent last week working on vectors. The unit test on vectors will be tomorrow Monday April 24th. The rest of the week we will be spent working on series and sequences. We will cover arithmetic and geometric sequences, as well as, other series and sequences. We will cover notation, factorials and basic probability.
Last week we started a new unit that covers Exponential and Logarithmic functions. We covered exponential functions on Wednesday through Friday of last week. This week we will begin focusing on logarithms. We will start with logarithm basics, then move into properties, graphing and analyzing, solving equations and finally application problems. It currently appears as though the unit test will be Tuesday May 2nd.
This week we finish up our unit on Rational Functions. Monday we will review and go over Friday’s quizzes. On Tuesday we will have a test covering graphing and analyzing rational functions and solving rational inequalities. Wednesday we will begin a unit on Logarithmic and Exponential functions. We will spend Wednesday through Friday on the basics of logarithms.
This week we will conclude our work on Conic sections. We will cover parabolas and then focus on solving systems. We will also review circles, ellipses and hyperbolas. The unit test is scheduled for Friday April 14th.
This week we will focus on the second half of Rational functions. We will graph and analyze rational functions as well as solve rational inequalities. On Friday we will have a quiz covering these topics and on Tuesday April 18 we will follow with a test covering the last of the Rational functions unit.
This week we will begin a unit on Conic Sections. We will begin the unit focusing on circles. We will then move to parabolas and hyperbolas. We will have a quiz on Friday covering the circles, parabolas and hyperbolas. We will finish the unit up after spring break.
This week we continue with a unit on rational equations and expressions. Students spent last week performing operations and simplifying rational expressions. This week we will move into solving rational equations and inequalities. We will have a quiz on Tuesday covering simplifying and operations. We will have a test on Friday that will include operations, simplifying and solving.
