You read an article about the effects of technology on society. Then we did a “jigsaw” activity where you shared the most important information from your article with a group of classmates who read different articles. All of this information is preparing you for the argumentative essay you will write after the break.

Tonight for homework…

Read the following articles so that you will be prepared for our “Socratic Seminar” on Friday, You do not need to re-read article that you read today in class.

Listen, Linda!  You watched a video that is a great example of arguing.  Then, you learned that there is a big difference between arguing and argumentative writing and speaking.  You took notes on argumentative writing (argumentative-writing-powerpoint) on your handy-dandy foldable.  You also watched Ms. Nix’s favorite commercial and discussed the argumentative elements that the girl used to support her claim that her dad is a space alien.

FOR HOMEWORK:

Dialogue sheet (only if you didn’t finish it last week!) and finish copying your notes (only if you didn’t get done with them in class today).
