Today in class…

We began a new novel, Hoot, also by Carl Hiaasen. Here’s the thing though, we’re going to read the entire novel in ONE WEEK!

How!?

Today you received a bit of background on the plot and characters and you were assigned three chapters – your chapters may have fallen at the beginning of the book, in the middle, or at the end.  You will decide the most important parts of each of your three chapters. Then you will work with the other 3 or 4 people who read the same chapters and as a group you will decide what the class needs to know about “your” section of the book. Next week, you will present your chapters, in order from beginning to end, until all of the pieces of the plot puzzle are filled in.

Tonight for homework…

Book reports are due tomorrow! Your book report can be handwritten in blue or black ink OR typed. You will not share with the class, you will just be submitting your book report to Mrs. Dean and Ms. Nix.

Today in class…
