READING

Today in class…

We did a “close read” of the informational text from Touchstone 2, “Russia’s Traditional Folk Art”. Then you took the final Touchstone assessment for the 2nd quarter. Tomorrow you will have a test over: POV, main idea, plot elements, and connotation/denotation. You will be applying what you learned about these concepts, which makes it a difficult test to study for. My suggestion would be to make sure you know the different points of view, and elements on a plot diagram.

You wrote a creative holiday journal. Then you had time to continue reading Tangerine and work on your literature circle task for Wednesday.

You learned about main idea/central idea (they mean the same thing). We watched Flocabulary, practiced identifying main idea, subject, and supporting details. Then we did a Brainpop activity to practice some more.

We took part in the “Great American Mail Race“!  We received a letter from a 6th grader in California. We wrote back to her and are writing letters to 6th graders across the country.

Today was Ms. Nix last day. She was such an amazing addition to our class, but her time at Durham is done, and we will miss her for sure!
