At this point in READING….

Groups are at entirely different points of their novel study.  No matter where your group is, you turned in your final “task” today, and the extra credit will be due by Friday.

There is no homework tonight, unless you are behind on your assigned reading.

Today in LANGUAGE ARTS…

You used the laptops to work on your mystery.  Most of you are on the “rainbow revisions” by now. If you aren’t, you probably need to work on your paper tonight. Remember that the “rainbow” revised draft will be a grade separate from the final draft!
Tonight for homework…

It’s up to you to know if you need to work on your mystery in order to be ready to hand it in at the beginning of class on Friday.

Hmmm, not sure what happened!

Yesterday, I posted my blog and apologized for missing posts at the end of last week.  Not sure what happened, but now I look even more scatterbrained!

Today in READING…

You continued your novel study, reading silently and completing task #3.  I also told you about an extra credit opportunity.  You may complete two extra tasks which will take the place of a missing task or add 15 points to your lowest grade.  I will only accept the extra credit after today’s assignment is completed.  The last day to turn it in will be on Friday at the beginning of class.

Today in LANGUAGE ARTS…

Exciting day!  I was able to get computers for us for the last three days of your mystery writing unit! So, that I thought was going to have to happen at home should (hopefully) be able to be done here at school.

There is no homework tonight.

Mystery stories will be due at the start of class on Friday.  Come Friday prepared to share your story aloud with a group of classmates!

Today in READING…

Your Task #1 was due, and it was intended to be the springboard for your book talk with your partner. If you and your partner both had your work completed, way to go! If not, as I explained at the start of the unit, you received a 0, and for the first time all year, this is an assignment that I can’t accept late (only exception – absence).

You took a comprehension quiz, and once again, if you have kept up with the assigned reading on your calendar, you probably aced it!

Tonight for homework…

Refer to your calendar. If you did not finish your assigned chapter(s), finish them tonight.

Today in Language Arts…

You finished your dialogue practice and had a little time to read your mystery.

Then you began drafting your own original mystery story.

Tonight for homework…

Finish reading your mystery from the library!

Today in READING…

You took the RI to measure your lexile level. I’m super proud of the gains so many of you have made.  You’ve worked hard all year and it shows!

After the RI you continued to follow your novel study calendar.

Tonight for homework…

Finish your assigned reading, and TASK #1 is due tomorrow.

Today in LANGUAGE ARTS…

Those who needed to finish “Drafting Leads” did that, and then you went on to drafting dialogue.  This should be review, but it will serve your mystery writing well!

There is no homework tonight.
