Feb 5th – Today we finished notes on European Imperialism in Africa. We discussed the positives and negatives of Imperialism. Environmental Quiz was passed babk to the students. A remediation packet is available if students scored below an 80 on the quiz. It is due Wednesday, Feb 7th.. Remediation Packet due tomorrow

Feb 6th – Today we will review Imperialism. The students will write a 5 – 7 sentence paragraph on : In Your Opinion, was European Colonization of Africa a Good (positive) Period in Africa History or a Bad (negative) One? Give 2 Facts to Justify Your Answer. Then we will start our lesson on Pan Africanism.

HW : Finish paragraph if didn’t in class. Remediation packet due tomorrow.

Feb 7th – Today we will continue our history unit of Africa by learning about African Independence . Students will take notes in class.

Feb 8th – Today we will continue learning about African Independence looking specifically at Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. We will read articles in class and answer questions.

Jan 29th – Today we turned in our Comic Strip Project on Environmental Issues in Africa. We read an article on Religions in Africa and answered 5 questions.

Jan 30th – Today we started taking notes on a graphic organizer on Religions and Ethnic Groups in Africa. The students colored in a map showing the location of the                           religious groups. We reviewed for the Environmental quiz on Wednesday.

Jan 9th  Begin Unit on Africa. Vocabulary terms introduced. Students participate in a round robin vocabulary activity. Homework: none

Jan 10th Review vocabulary terms with a matching activity. Completed graphic organizer for vocabulary. Vocab Exit Ticket. If you were absent please see me in homeroom to make up Exit Ticket. Homework: none

Jan 11th  Start identifying the physical features of Africa and selected countries. Students will label the countries and physical features in blue or black ink. Then color the countries in different colors using colored pencils. They will locate Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire), Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Sudan. For the physical map the will color deserts yellow, lightly shade the SAHEL orange, lightly shade the RAIN FOREST green, lightly shade the SAVANNAH red, color rivers and lakes blue and color mountains brown. They will label the Sahara, Sahel, savanna, tropical rain forest, Congo River, Niger River, Lake Victoria, Great Rift Valley, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Atlas Mountains, and Kalahari Desert. Homework: none

Jan 12th Finish mapping activity. Geography of Africa Powerpoint with Guided Questions. Homework: Finish coloring map of Africa in not finished in class.
