Happy Conference Week!

Hola familias,

We hope you have been enjoying the cooler weather and are ready for Conference Week!

Here are some helpful tips and friendly reminders about Conference Week…

  •   Please note that parking becomes quite busy during Conference Week, please plan ahead to arrive a little early as we have back to back conferences and want to be respectful of everyone’s time.

  • If you have a conference BEFORE 12:40 p.m., please check in at the office and walk down to the conference room in the K/1st Grade hallway.

·       If you have a conference AFTER 12:40 p.m., please meet us at the classroom.

·       If you have a conference AFTER 3:30, please enter the building through the ASP doors in the back as the front doors will be locked at 3:30 p.m.

·       Lunch will be at 9:20 a.m. this whole week (Please no lunch visitors this week due to the schedule).

·       Specials will be 10:55-11:25.

·       There will be QUICK SNACK this week in the classroom. Please be sure to pack a quick snack for your child.

Here is a quick look at this week:

          Thursday: Library Day. Please have your students bring back their library book.

Next week:

*Friday (Oct. 26th): Book Character Day. Students have the opportunity to dress up as their favorite book character. Please have your student bring in their book with their names in the book.

*If you are interested in adding some books to your collection at home. Don’t forget that Scholastic Book Orders are due on Friday, Oct. 26th. Looking ahead:

* Red Ribbon Week coming up the week of Oct. 22nd. Be on the lookout for more information to be sent home soon.

* Homework due on Tuesday, Oct. 31st. Students are to return their English homework—Math and Language Arts packet AND Spanish homework—Phonics and Science worksheets. Please remember that homework is to be returned in student’s green homework folder upon arrival to school in order to participate in Lunch Bunch

Conference Week is coming up…

Conference Week will take place the week of October 15th, Monday through Friday.  Early Release will occur the entire week, as the whole school will be holding conferences. Students will be dismissed two hours early this whole week. Car rider line, buses and ASP will still take place like it typically does.

We would love to have just parents attend conferences if arrangements are able to made, in particular because I will be present and would like to share information and provide academic updates in English with you all.

Who is ready for Fall Break?!?

We can’t believe that we completed 33 days of Kindergarten already!

 

Thank you all for my special treats, flowers, cards and generous gift cards for my birthday. The students’ smiles, hugs and love made it an amazing day!

 

WAY TO GO to Ms. Wolfgang’s class who are the Back the Jack class participation winners!

 

Just a couple of reminders for this week

  • Thursday, Sept. 20th: Multicultural Night from 6:00-8:00. We hope to see you there!
  • Friday, Sept. 21 Homework is due in your child’s green folder. The only thing that needs to be returned is the English packet. Students that turn in their homework will have Lunch Bunch on this day! *Please note that this is a special event for students so we ask that parents do not come for lunch on this day. *
  • Friday, Sept. 21st: We will visit the Learning Commons. Please have your child bring back their library book on this day. *Please note that we try to go every other week.

 

Looking ahead:

  • Students will receive their October homework packet when we return from Fall Break
  •   Scholastic Book Orders will be due on Friday, October 26th. (optional) https://clubs.scholastic.com/home
  •      Monday, Oct. 1st:  NO Specials to allow other grade levels to have additional planning time.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 2nd: Super Specials: Students will have a longer Specials on this day and attend two specials to allow for teachers to have additional planning time.

  • Thursday, Oct. 11th: Early Release Day
  • Friday, Oct. 12th: PTA Fall Festival
  • Week of Oct. 15th: Conference Week–Early Release Days **

We sure are enjoying having your sweet kiddos in our classes! We have formed beautiful friendships, had lots of laughs and are making gains in academic and social growth.

Today in your child’s red folder you will see a letter from our awesome room parents. Please fill out the form and return in your child’s red daily folder.

Also, we have placed new Specials Calendar for the month of September.

 

Just a couple of reminders:

·       Football Friday is tomorrow! Your child can wear their favorite football jersey/shirt.  If you would like to come in and assist, check out the sign up.

·       Braves Bucks cash in day is tomorrow!   

Students have been working hard in being a respectful, responsible role model student in the hallway, during arrival and dismissal time, cafeteria and playground. The incentives are the following: 3 Braves bucks= write with a marker all day, 5 Braves bucks= piece of candy 7 Braves bucks=no morning work for the day.

Looking ahead:

·       Monthly Challenge will be coming home on September 4th. Remember this activity is optional. The due date is Friday, September 21st. If your child turns in their homework in their green folder upon arrival to school, they will be able to participate in Lunch Bunch. (lunch with the teacher). Don’t forget students will be coming home with 2 Math Spanish workbooks {to keep at home}.

·       Specials calendar, September English and Spanish Learning Resources, Monthly newsletters and August Pictures will be posted on the blog when we return from Labor Day weekend!

We have had a fantastic 2 full weeks of school! Thank you so much for your continued support and allowing us to watch your cuties grow.

Just a couple of friendly reminders……..

  • Please make sure to send in a white 1 inch binder and a green plastic folder, if you have not done so already. Thank you!

 

  • Monthly Homework Challenge will be coming home on September 4th in your child’s green homework. Remember this activity is optional.

 

  • Monthly newsletter is now on the blog. If you have requested to receive a hard copy, it will be in your child’s red communication folder.

 

  • PLEASE LEAVE BEHAVIOR/TRANSPORTATION LOGS IN YOUR STUDENT’S RED FOLDER. Teachers will remove.

 

  • Early Release: Wednesday, August 29th. School will be released 2 hours early.

 

  • Football Friday and FBI (Fathers Being Involved) Reading Day is coming soon. Friday, August 31st. Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities.

 

  • We have started to learn sight words. This includes: reading, spelling, and writing in a sentence. Please check out our blogs, under the page “Parent Information and Learning Resources”.

Get Ready for Some Color Fun

Next week we will be starting our new unit about colors.  In order to get everyone involved and have a little fun, we will all be dressing in a certain color for two weeks. Below you will find the days and their corresponding colors.  We will be doing all sorts of tallying and graphing activities to see who is wearing which type of clothing, and who can wear the most of one color.  Any kind of visible clothing counts (socks, shoes, skirts, pants, shorts, shirts, and dresses)!!  Please help your child to remember to wear the correct colors!
