Meet Mrs. Dishman
Welcome to Second Grade ! My name is Shery Dishman and I am truly excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year. 2nd grade is such an important time to strengthen all of the skills kids have learned in Kindergarten and 1st grade. It is a time to learn to be independent. 2nd grade is an exciting year when we begin to move from “learning to read” to “reading to learn”.
I have been teaching for 28 years in both Cobb County and with the Department of Defense in Germany. I have spent 16 of those years as a classroom teacher and 12 of them as an EIP (Early Intervention Program) teacher. I have been at Bullard Elementary since it opened in 2003. As you know, it’s an exciting place to be!
I grew up in Marshall, Michigan and in Bloomington, Illinois. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. After college I made my way south to escape the snow and cold weather and to join my twin sister who had already “migrated” south. I have been married to my husband Andy for 21 years and we have one daughter, Sophie, who is a student at McClure Middle School. We also have a cute little dog, Ruby, who is an important part of our family! We live here in Kennesaw. I greatly enjoy living and working in the same community.
In my spare time I enjoy watching T.V. and movies, reading, tutoring, scrapbooking, entertaining and doing holiday and event decorating for others. I also enjoy going to the beach as much as possible with my family. I am very excited to be on the staff at Bullard and to be teaching 2nd grade this year!
