LaVigne's Blog of Science!

Not just another Cobb Learning site

Welcome to my BLOG!

August21

Greetings to my new Kell students!  This is my blog home for my AP Physics I and Conceptual Physics classes.

If you need additional help, please plan on staying on a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon from 3:45-4:45pm. Let me know you plan on staying.
The Synergy grade app for students can be downloaded to your smart phone to check your grades – not in school, of course.

  • In the app store ( Apple or Android) look up “student vue” and download the app. It’s free.
  • When it asks for the school district URL, enter https://studentvue.cobbk12.org . Make sure to put in https, not http.
  • Hit the “test” button to make sure it works
  • Enter your normal student school login and password

I send TEXT Message updates for my classes:

Or go to the website and enter the class code here: http://www.remind101.com/join#/join

AP Testing Preparation

May2

This was too long to send as a text and I know you didn’t need to get 20 from me today, and I wanted to make sure it got out there quickly. Make sure you read this thoroughly and are prepared for AP Testing next week! Do not forget that your exemptions are tied to your participation. If you exempted first semester, and don’t take the exam next Tuesday, I will be going back into the grade book, entering a ZERO for your final exam grade and your grade will drop. Please do not make this a problem.

Best of luck to you all. I’m confident that you can do well. Don’t stress about it too much. Get plenty of rest and eat well the morning of the test.

-LaVigne

• Bring a few #2 pencils (no mechanical allowed)
• Bring a few blue or black pens
• Bring a calculator (per test requirements) – If something goes wrong, please borrow one of mine, just make sure I get it back.
• Ruler or straightedge only for Physics – If you need one, borrow one of mine if you don’t have one with you day of.
• If you are testing in both the AM and PM sessions, bring a lunch so you can eat quickly between sessions
• Students can’t leave early- must stay for the duration of the entire test- NO EXCEPTIONS

• Important to check emails daily going forward about exam info and reminders
• Remember STUDENTS and TEACHERS may only discuss the specific free-response content that is released on the College Board website 2 days AFTER the exam administration. Discussion of these questions may NOT begin until that time. Exam content that is NOT released may NEVER be discussed (Be careful-don’t post anything on social media. We’ve had students tests thrown out and not scored due to this issue. You will NOT get a refund if this is the case.)
• See Ms. Robson in the testing room if you need anything or email her: tanya.robson@cobbk12.org

AP Students

April26

As we move towards the end of the year, please make sure you are taking advantage of study sessions (I’ll be offering those next week after school) and practice testing sessions. As always, continue to use Remind as your first point of contact for updates and planning.

The following simulation might come in handy when reviewing circuits in my absence next week.
