Novel:

Students will read Chapters 6-12 of Countdown

 

 

25 Book Competition Benchmark:

25 Book Competition (You must participate-it will-1azcfdu

21 books -due 4/24-25/18-students will need to write a summary of each book they read and I will check off. This is for the prize at the end of the year (individually and class)

100-500 pages=1 book

600-1000 pages=2 books

1000-1400 pages=3 books

1500-1900 pages=4 books

2000-2400 pages=5 books

2500-2900 pages=6 books

3000-3400 pages=7 books

3500-3900 pages=8 books

4000-4400 pages=9 books

4500-5000 pages=10 books

 

Grading:

Classwork will be worth 25 points. If a student is missing an answer or does answer the question fully, points will be taken off. Points taken off will range from 5-10 points off depending on the number of questions that on the assignment. Grading will go as follow:

25 points-All questions are correct

24-20 points-Missing 1-5 questions or answers

19-16 points-Missing half of the assignment

15 and below-did not turn the assignment in or did not complete it.

*Rubrics are created for major projects or major assignments. They will be posted on the blog.

Homework is worth 10 points. The grading for this is as followed:

10-No incorrect answers

9-missing 1 answer

8-missing 2 answers

7-missing 3 answers

6-missing 4 answers

5-missing 5 answers or did not turn the assignment in

*Feedback-feedback will be given on the assignment on a need to basis. Students have been advised that if they have questions to come and see me and I tell the students if they miss points-why they missed the points. Most feedback is given in class.

 

8th Grade Activities Update:

Dear Parents:

Those who have paid for Six Flags, our trip is on April 27, 2018. Permission slips and t-shirts will be given to students on next week. They must bring the permission slips and wear the t-shirt or they will NOT be able to attend the trip!

8th grade Fun Day ($10)-money is due May 11, 2018, 8th Grade Dance ($20-to be paid to PTSA)-money is due May 11, 2018,  8th grade class t-shirt ($15)-money is due May 4, 2018. Please be sure to ask your child about payment deadlines or you can contact Dr. Manns for more information.

The 8th Grade Formal Dance will be on May 19, 2018 from 7 pm-10 pm. We be going over with students about the appropriate dress code for the dance so they will know what is acceptable.

The 8th Grade Moving On Ceremony will be on May 22, 2018. Time is TBA. Please be on the lookout for information coming home about attire for this special event.
