Science (Block 3): Dealt with a few technical difficulties, but managed to get through some SSG notes on vocabulary for the new chapter.  Today’s warm up is: Waves turn rock into sand by… Please finish this question with at least two well written sentences.  Use scientific vocabulary that you have already learned about weathering to explain the process by which a rock becomes sand.

BRING COLORED PENCILS TOMORROW!

AC Math (Blocks 4 & 5): Finished the expression and exponent quiz and started MSG notes on translating expressions.  There is no assigned homework tonight.

Have a nice night kiddos!  See you tomorrow.

10-26-17

Hello Kiddos,

Today in class we…

Math 6 (Blocks 1 & 2): Converted units of measurement using ratios.  There is no assigned homework tonight.

Science (Block 3): Finished the unfinished business from Chapter 10 and watched a short video about weathering and erosion which is the focus of Chapter 12.  There is no assigned homework tonight.

AC Math (Blocks 4 & 5): Completed a SCOOT where you had to use order of operations to simplify algebraic expressions.  Homework is p. 369, 20 – 32 evens only.

See you tomorrow!

10-25-17

Hello Kiddos,

Today in class we…

Math 6 (Block 1 & 2): Used ratio tables to organize and convert units of measurement.  Tonight’s homework is to complete the 3 examples in your MSG.  We will correct them in class tomorrow.

  • example 4 – How many feet are in 2.5 miles?
  • example 5 – How many cups are in 41.6 oz?
  • example 6 – How many pints are in 31.6 cups?

Science (Block 3):  Tied up some chapter 10 “loose ends.”  There is no assigned homework tonight.

AC Math (Blocks  4 & 5): Simplified algebraic expressions on whiteboards in class.  Homework tonight is p. 367, #1-9 and #12-14.

See you tomorrow, kiddos!

10-24-17

Hello Kiddos! Does anyone have some extra band-aids they could send in?  I am running low, and I like to keep some in class for little scrapes and scratches.  If you don’t mind sending in a few I would really appreciate it.  Any size will do!

Today in class we…

Math 6 (Blocks 1 & 2): Completed the percent quiz.  There is no assigned homework tonight.

Science (Block 3): Completed the chapter 10 test.  There is no assigned homework.

AC Math (Blocks 4 & 5): Took MSG notes on parts of an expression and on evaluating algebraic expressions.  Homework tonight is p. 366, 1-8.

See you tomorrow. 🙂

10-23-17

Hello Kiddos,

Today in class we…

Math 6 (Blocks 1 & 2): Reviewed percent by completing a percent SCOOT.  Your test is tomorrow.  Tonight’s homework is to solve the six percent problems on the worksheet you were given in class.  You are welcome to solve them anyway you’d like – models or math. 🙂

Science (Block 3): Reviewed for the chapter 10 test tomorrow. Use the quizizz and the “Almost There” from class today to help you study.

AC Math (Blocks 4 & 5): Completed classwork to demonstrate mastery on exponents and numerical expressions.  Your only homework is to finish your classwork if you did not complete it in class.

Have a nice afternoon!

Good afternoon kiddos,

Today in class we…

Math 6 (Blocks 1 & 2): Used models and math to find the whole number when given a part and a percent. Homework tonight is to use math to complete the four problems on the sheet you were given in class.  Here a little help to get you started:

Science (Block 3): Took notes in our SSGs about soil conservation and how humans use different methods to save soil from weathering away.  Using quizizz is a great way to help you prepare for the Chapter 10 test next week.

Hi Kiddos,

Today in class we…

Math 6 (Blocks 1 & 2): Practiced converting a percent to a decimal to solve percent problems mathematically.  Please complete the percent worksheet you were given in class today.

Science (Block 3): Discussed how climate impacts soil production.  Please use the quizizz link to study for your test.  The chapter 10 test will be on Tuesday, October 24th.  The test will NOT be open note.

AC Math (Block 4 & 5): Reviewed order of operations that are used to evaluate numerical and algebraic expressions.  There is no assigned homework tonight.

10-17-17

Hello Kiddos,

Today in class we…

Math 6 (Blocks 1 & 2): Solved percent problems involving a known total using multiplication.  We also brushed up on converting a percent to a decimal.  Homework tonight is to complete the Decimals and Percent worksheet you were given in class.

Science (Block 3): Discussed soil horizons, pH, and started to discuss the impact that climate and weather has on soil quality.  There is no assigned homework tonight.

AC Math (Blocks 4 & 5): Wrote exponents as a product of the same factor, recorded some common mistakes to avoid, and looked at a couple of exponent rules that apply to all numbers.  Homework tonight is p. 351, #1-10.

Tomorrow we are recognizing our commitment to being drug free with a Head to Toe Drug Free day.  Crazy hair and crazy socks will show your pledge to a drug free life.  Can’t wait to see what you come up with. 🙂

10-16-17

Hello Kiddos,

Today was busy since all the classes were short.  Here is a summary of what we did…

Math 6 (Blocks 1 & 2): Demonstrated individual mastery of percent modeling.  If you did not finish the check-in in class you may finish it at home, otherwise there is no assigned homework tonight.

Science (Block 3): Summarized soil infiltration and drew comics/illustrations that demonstrated understanding of parent rock, residual soil, and transported soil. If you did not finish in class please finish your work at home.

AC Math (Blocks 4 & 5): Learned about exponents as repeated multiplication.  There is no assigned homework tonight.

Don’t forget to wear a hat tomorrow as we celebrate RED RIBBON WEEK with a “hats off to bring drug free” day.  See you then. 🙂
