Durham Leadership Program

What is the Durham Leadership Program about?

This club, also known as DLP, is a program that gives chosen students an opportunity to practice leadership skills by having students:

  • Help with 5th grade orientation
  • Serve as a welcoming committee to all new students
  • Serve as the student body voice and sharing concerns with administration
  • Use effective communication skills
  • Learn about problem solving, prioritizing, and planning
  • Develop positive attitudes towards themselves and others
  • Spread  positive messages throughout the school
  • Attend monthly meetings with sponsors to plan activities

How do students get chosen?

Every year in the Fall announcements are made about recruitment and students must do the following:

  1. Fill out an application and turn it in by the deadline
  2. Choose two teachers to fill out a recommendation form for them
  3. Wait to be selected by the DLP sponsors- Mrs. Crandall, Dr. Hunt, Mrs. Stahler, Mrs. Walsh, and Mrs. Zwolle
